Love the Alfa by the way, very nice.
Hi Stuart... the gearshift is OE porsche, was just lucky to find one going on ebay reasonably cheap..
The Alfa arrives this weekend... then the welding begins!

Don't worry, that is a normal reaction...

Thanks Nate... to be honest does not feel hugely different up to 4K.. but I really think I need to wait till it is run in and can be thrashed to pass judgement..

This car is rapidly becoming my 2nd favourite blue 964 nb (after my own of course).
Thanks Jota.. one seat had it already, it was an ex shop demo, so I had it added to the other too...

It was but had a horrid CUP wheel in blue and the blue carpeting are just Porsche mats.. underneath it is all white.. you can imagine how practical that is. Being replaced with dark Grey Appbiz Carpet kit..

Ok so Nick weighed the car while he had it and it is now running at 1302 Kgs.. but i think that was with just a quarter of a tank of petrol.

I think the original curb weight declared by porsche was of 1475Kgs for the C4 so even allowing for another 40Kgs of fuel the current weight of the car seems a good result.. plus the lightweight Pole Positions are yet to be fitted and will add another substantial saving.

This is a list of work carried out by Nick..

Remove and refit engine
Top end rebuild
Replace big end bearings and nuts and bolts
Cup cams
Remap ecu, chip
Manufacture new exhaust flange and set up in car and weld on to old exhaust
GRP surrounding engine trays
GRP Under tunnel cover
Replace distributor belt
Delete engine bay blower and wiring for heater control
Re-plate all steel bright work that's visible in the bay
Powder coat rocker covers and fan
New Sound deadening pad
3 replacement exhaust studs £9.90
AV mount for air box
2Distributor caps + arms
Strengthen engine mount bracket
Change gearbox oil
Weigh car and check corner weights
2x Fan belts

Very nice engine , I like the gold touches ,
1300 kg is very good , the Recaro seats would make a big difference mine is 1350 with 1/2 tank (and sunroof )I would love to find another 80 kg but those would be expensive,
You are probably aware you would get full power advantage once you go for a proper aftermarket ECU ....

1302 is very light with 20kg of fuel, you'll feel that. Bear in mind though that different weigh bridges will read quite far apart, I think the Snetterton and Brands Hatch ones are like 100kg difference. So don't be too shocked if next time you get weighted its put weight on mysteriously

Thanks Alex.. the measurement was through corner weight scales used at Redtek, not sure if these are more or less accurate than weigh bridges..

Oh that will be spot on then. Weigh bridges are a bit more agricultural I think.

Jack, Have enjoyed reading about your weight saving measures. Car looks great! I read you had an engine rebuild done. Can I ask what sort of money such an exercise costs? Also, how long were you without the car?. I also saw the Alfa - stunning looking car!

Default Looking good !

Your 964 just keeps getting better !

My '92 will need similar motor work at some point......

We have similar P-cars and now Alfas !
Here is my '64 Giulia Spider. A cousin to yours.

Got mine in 1977 and drove it on my honeymoon trip. These are fun cars !

Wow! There is a slight chance yours might be in very slightly better condition than mine!

Got the AD08s fitted today on my new sly returned CUP1s... And the fitted promptly chipped a rim, despite my warnings the car look much better with them as expected.. Will post pics soon..

On another note...
Picked up Smokey- my new 1963 Giulia Spider today..

I picked it up from Camden and had to drive back to Putney in West London. On the way back I was starting to feel comfortable with the car.. Appreciating the slick gear change and soaking up the details when Smokey decided to do the inevitable. I was cruising on the A40, it had got to three lanes without the emergency one... And suddenly all power cut out.. Followed by wisps of smoke in the cabin which quickly developed into clouds ... I managed to cost the car towards an exit and luckily just before it stopped rolling I got it off the lanes and onto the beginning of the slip road. I had visions of doom and rang my friend (and seller) who was suitably apologetic and started heading my way. In the meantime I traced the smoke to the battery, it looked like short somewhere but initially I could not see where... Till I looked more closely at the battery itself and found it was the metal securing strap that had moved over the positive and then shorted with the ground.. Luckily she started again and the return journey from that point was relatively uneventful.. Will post pics soon..
