Default Scantool and T-ODB

I received Tore's USB adapter a week or so ago. I finally used it today with the scantool and did the adaptation. Not sure if it's in my head or not, but the car seems to run a lot smoother and rev faster.

Great tool at a very reasonable price.

Good to hear, def. on my list of things to get. Other scan tools are either too confusing or wayyy too much.

Big Mike, how was your idle before adaptation? I have the software and Tore's OBD cable and I used it to reset my airbag light. But I've never ran the adaptation, mostly because my idle is pretty steady.

if you've never run the adaptation but then perhaps you cannot appreciate the benefits.

Mike, thank you for the feedback. I agree, Scantool is a bit rudimentary, but a simple and straightforward tool. A fellow enthusiast is now even testing this in a 968, I am really looking forward to hear the result from him.
Cheers,
Tore

Before the adaptation, the idle wasn't anything to complain about. It idled well with an occasional lump. Now it is silky smooth and I swear the engine just revs better. Probably in my head but that is where it counts.

Ok thanks Mike. I'll give the adaptation a whirl and see what it does. Need to wait for a day when the engine gets fully warmed up. Sometimes hard to do in winter in Denver.

Tried to do likewise last weekend after getting the software installed on Windows 8, however, I am at a point where it only shows connecting and never connects. Assumed that it could have been my 19 pin adapter, but apparently not the case, so any quick feedback on what Is possibly wrong will be appreciated. May need to do some further reading.

Thanks!

I have not tested this in Win 8, but would expect this to be very similar to Windows 7. The T-OBD User manual explains most things to get it running, and there's a more detailed Troubleshooting Guide both for Win 7 and XP in the downloadable file on my website.
Cheers,
Tore

I had the same issue until I realized that I didn't set the COM Port in the Scantool.ini file that I placed in the Windows directory to the same COM Port that was set in Device Manager. Once you get them in sync, there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks BigMike. Will look into that as a possible cause.

Resolved!
FYI - For Windows 8, you will need to have "true admin" rights to save the Scantool.ini file in directory C:\Windows.

Guys, you should really try the t-lock kit that tore does, it really is very very good. I fitted it to mine a few weeks back and its just another modern update that is fitted in no time at all.

Tore's kits are brilliant, I also use the t-obd kit with windows 8. Works flawlessly.

Ordered the scanner and lock kit yesterday. Can't wait to get them!

Now I just need to find a cheap PC laptop. Or maybe I'll just dual boot my mac...
