here is a short vid of the wheels (never seen them moving myself) and the new idle

Apologies for the editing

Car starts up straight away ... Perfect idle ... Nice to finally have what Steve W calls 'road manners'!

Just finished my Xmas shopping with Tom at Rennline (silver covers) and Bob at Appbiz.
Both very friendly guys ... And worth noting the RS carpet kit prices go up $140 in the new year - first price change since at least 2006... Just FYI

now as I had to budget despite the 15% sale at RennLine .. I decided to make my own ali floor board..
thanks for all those threads .. the mock up is looking/fitting well .. just need to remove more carpet before I
finish it. While I was in there, I dug out some great SRP Racing pedals which I had in my 996 RS.

They're a nice set - I ordered the throttle pedal grips ground down so that the grip there but less than C or B
allowing your foot to slide up the pedal (not getting caught) when you're steadily increasing throttle
as you would in a long opening corner - some even just make the pedal smooth for that reason.

I'm posting to ask some advice on:
1. the ali look ... nice with the trial floor board .. but maybe all of it shd be black (see pic of one of the spares in black below)
2. the red centre lines in my 'rs blue' highlighted car - but they tie up with the gauge arms nicely
3. the use of one of the LHD dead pedal/foot rests in my RHD car - see the one between the clutch & brake - to cover that plastic piece that's stapled onto the pedal board?

this is the trial fit using prestick to mark the pedals for mounting.

Many of you clearly have a good eye for these little touches, so please weigh in and let me know your view.
a. do I keep the red or go blue?
b. do i consider making the ali black? or black with the blue stripe?
c. do I include the LHD dead-pedal as a filler or go with a cup style ali backing board? or nothing?

I think I prefer it without the dead pedal. It gives a cleaner less cluttered look.

Yes I think you're right Rob - gonna matt black that back board and cover the staples - they're the only reason I was considering the dead-pedal which (unfairly?) doesn't fit the RHD cars.

Great to catch up with the thread - seats look brilliant. Can't go wrong with colour coordinating.

Here's my 2pence worth... I have aluminium pedals from Rennline. In hindsight I should have gone with black as marks show up very easily. Besides our cars tend to be more black than chrome fittings. So black with blue pin stripe gets my vote.

Thanks Frank - Was a hard choice re the seats as traditionally they shd be body color..
But they came out just right.

Re the feet bit - was thinking the same as I'm not keen on the brushed look in older cars - these pedals looked perfect in the GT3RS ....
.... The only thing keeping me back was that in black they look rubber..

Reviewing the SRP racing website though ... The ano black w blue does look great

Agree on the blue though - def right - will decide once black carpet is in early next year.

I never realized the placement of a dead pedal on a RHD car. What a trip.

IIRC it changed after 90 model year. Early cars had it in between the clutch and brake. Later cars had it all the way to the left.

^^ wierd ... So that plastic stapled thing between clutch and brake is a foot rest?
So if it moved on the later cars, did they shift all the pedals on the RHDs to the right to make room? Or mould the tunnel slightly differently?

That's right the pedal box is slightly different in that the clutch is further to the right from 90's onwards and into the 933.

My car is a 90's car so the foot rest was in the middle - I now run a 993 box since mine was knackered. If you have very small feet like me the Rennline pedal set made a big difference to the driving experience allowing for heel toeing.

Here is a shot of the closeness of the pedals and the scruffiness of silver in my car. Mind you scruffiness = patina.

PS. Happy Christmas

I think the 993 style pedal box on RHD was only on late 92 cars on
