Fuchs For 964...

Reminds me when I first laid eyes on mine. I too would love to see 18" Fuchs on a 964.
Mine are 17" and the car is in the shop being lowered right now. To be honest I haven't lusted after 18" to date as I don't see much difference compared to say the 18" on my Turbo 3.6.

Hi Colin,
They look really beautiful
I have a set of Veloce Speedlines on at the mo, 8J x 18 with 225/40ZR18 Contisport on the front and 9.5J x 18 265/35ZR18 Contisports on the rear. These clear the Turbo callipers on the front and 993 callipers on the rear and without the need spacers.
Do you know if I can use 18" Fuchs without spacers and clear the brakes please?
Also what finish is that please, it almost looks like RSR? I'd love to see a pic of them on the car.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

The wheels are being fitted onto a modified C2 which has Big Reds fitted, I'll post photos of the car and take a few more close ups to show the caliper clearance behind the wheels.

I'm hoping to do without spacers.
Cheers,

We will work that out on the car when it comes in Paul. If I have time I might fit two of them to my 964 to check clearances before the customer arrives, however as we have a shop rammed with cars at the moment I've left my red one at home so that won't be for a day or two.

I have just purchased a set of 17" (8" front 9" rear) fuchs wheels for my 964 and wanted to get some feedback on tire sizing. 85% of my driving will be on the street and 15% track and autocross days. The tire selection is more important than the wheel. Part of that equation is making sure that I properly size the tires for overall diameter, but wanted to know everyone’s feeling on width and the balance/Turn in feedback experience you all have had.
I have a C4 targa and am very aware of the importance of matching rolling circumference between the front and rear axles. I am upgrading from 16" D90s and currently have this set-up:
Front: 205/55ZR16s (16x6 D90 wheels)
Rear: 225/50ZR16s (16x7 D90 wheels)
This gives me both wheels an overall diameter of 632mm
Known recommended sizes
The most popular is:
Front: 225/45ZR17s 634mm overall diameter
Rear: 255/40ZR17s 636mm overall diameter
Other possible are:
Front: 215/45ZR17s 626mm overall diameter
Rear: 245/40ZR17s 628mm overall diameter
Front: 235/45ZR17s 644mm overall diameter
Rear: 265/40ZR17s 644mm overall diameter
Front: 225/45ZR17s 634mm overall diameter
Rear: 285/40ZR17s 632mm overall diameter
My question is of the above tire sizing…does anyone have experience with any of the sizing and what was your general feeling on ride characteristics. I am leaning towards a 215 front and 245 rear as I hope that would provide a good balance of the rear being able to move and the front sticking more also I can get Pilot Super Sports in that size at a good price.
Thank you all for your knowledge...

Burning Brakes
I also have a C4 which used to have the setup of Fronts 225x45x17 and Rears 255x40x17
I found that the fronts really tramlined badly and it wasn't pleasant, IMO.
I now have Fronts 205x50x17 and Rears 255x40x17 which I believe is how they come from the factory...
The car now feels a lot more nimble and pointy which I like a lot.
Don't forget that there has to be a difference of 6% rolling radius between front and rear for the PDAS to work properly.

there has to be a difference of LESS than 6% rolling radius between front and rear for the PDAS to work properly.
