Fuchs For 964...

I've searched the forum for answers to my questions and haven't found what I'm looking for.
I've been wanting to back-date my 1990 C4 with some Fuch wheels. I understand that 16 inchers would have to be custom-made and most likely via Harvey Weidman out of Oroville. I've been led to believe that wait times can be prohibitive. I really like the feel of my current 16 inchers on my local roads, which have the occasional potholes and such, but I also understand that the availability of 16-inch Fuchs and lessening availability of 16-inch tires may force my having to go to 17 inchers. This leads me to Harvey again, or Zuffenhaus. My understanding is that Harvey finishes the Zuffenhaus products and that's probably why his wait times are prohibitive. So, one of my questions is should I go the long route and try to get 16 inchers custom-made or bite the bullet and go for the 17 inchers from Zuffenhaus? My other question regards finish. I really like the brushed nickel/aluminum finish with black everything-else-except-for a thin brushed nickel/aluminum rimline. I don't care for the deep dish look and all that. Zuffenhaus has the classic look which looks highly polished, almost chrome looking. Is it just a matter of letting that polished look fade or oxidize to get to the brushed nickel look? I'm thinking of the old '67 911S's...they don't look polished per se, but rather like brushed nickel. Any thoughts out there? Any faults to my above understandings? Thanks in advance!:corn: Below is the Zuffenhaus Classic and a shot of a wheel on a '67: |
The same people that now make Fikse wheels, do also make replica Fuch; maybe we could get a group buy going; I happen to know them personally through racing.
 |
I recall a recent thread saying that Otto Fuchs is now making these wheels that will fit 964/993. I don't recall what sizes were available and I didn't book mark the thread. Maybe someone recalls it?
EDIT: Found it! http://www.fuchsfelge.de/index.php?id=357&L=1 https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-18-fuchs.html |

The Zuffenhaus wheels are manufactured by Fikse and Harvey Weidman does both the RSR and anodized classic finish. The base finish is the polished with black center. The Classic can be with polished or anodized pedals and barrels.
Hope that helps. |

Those are by far the best looking wheels for a 964.
The Zuffenhaus's look good but they look like they have a whole lot of lip on them and I think I prefer the older look with less lip. Maybe all that lip can't be avoided as the rims are wider than they were in the old days. |

Here's a set for sale by a rennlister:

Here is a photo of a RSA with the Zuffenhaus wheels on the alignment rack at Zuffenhaus, from their blog.
I have a set at Harvey's being done in an old school finish, I will be glad to post when they and the car are done. |
The rsa looks great!

Let me just say if you find some early, early Fuchs photos... and some from on the track back in the day you will have a hint. |

You really want me to give it up before I even see it.

Hey, no problem. Until I see how they come out I will not know if it was a good idea.
