Default Noise coming from upper valves/tappets (ying..ying..) [PROBLEM SOLVED]

Hi guys, I had a "yingyingying" noise coming from the upper valves/tappets, in particular coming from the first/right tappet I think. It was a really strange noise and I was really afraid about that.. Finally my porsche mechanic called and told me that...

The problem was a blocked oil "sprinkler" (tappets one), they cleaned it and noise disappeared.. I was lucky because I stoped the car when I started to listen the noise and put in a car crane to my dealer.. probably, if I had not done that this tappet would be KO... But it's in good condition and lack of oil didn't damage it..

Now I'm going to do a valve adjustment, they are working on that..

Were they able to ID what caused the clog? Was it just gunked up or did something get into the oil and lodge itself in there?

Perhaps part of a piston ring clogged the spray hole.

Anyway, thanks for following up with the resolution, glad all turned out well.

Very happy for you Mc. Queen!
GOOD decision stopping the engine when you did.

Can you describe this "ying ying ying" a little further? I have a sort of ringing sound coming from my engine, and have been assuming it is something to do with the fan / bearing / alternator.

Great news!

I know the feeling. 2 years ago I decided to replace my valve springs and retainers just in case. And guess what, the first spring I got to was broken but still in the right position, could have been 10 sec from disaster! So I was happy months after!

Ken D I don’t know if that could happen wouldn’t it have to pass through the filter?

Mc Queen, glad it worked out for you it sounded bad when I first read your post.

I speaked with my mechanic some minutes ago again, and he told me that the obstruction was caused by solid oil.

The noise was metalic.

Regards
