I just went out there and put a socket on it. Feels like an 18 to me.

No not yet , I have broken an 18 socket but I am awaiting Kev the car doctor to pay me visit with some more sockets and a bigger bar I have also been spraying with rost off for the last couple of days but doubtfull if its penetrating down the bolt.

They are bloody tight

Once I get them out I`ll let you know, don`t think they have ever been off the car so not surprised they are seized, once I get a new socket and fire the compressor up should be sorted

When trying to undo mine a while ago they also required some crazy torque to undo, at first I tied using my trusty old Facom 'multi faceted' sockets which started slipping / rounding off the nut.....

.....not good

Luckily I had a spare hexagonal socket which did a much better job of distributing the torque over the bolt head, coupled with a 2 feet long extension bar it did the trick....pheeeew!!

Good luck!

Well after soaking everything in rost off ice for the last three or four days success all bolts are now free, had to muller a 17 onto the rounded front bolt, the hub nuts came off after firing the impact gun on them a few times a few hits on the short breaker bar then onto the long one and bobs your uncle .

As you mention evoderby multi face sockets were hopeless, broke 2 tried new Hex and bingo

Trailing arms not off yet just ready to go, one that looks tight is the Hex at the front of the spring plates as the ratchet is tight against the transmission so not sure if I can get an open ended spanners on the small hex bar.

with all the chapping and banging this little item fell down ! any clues to what it is ?

bearing in mind the car had a replacement engine fitted just prior to my purchase.

It almost looks like one of the spacer/standoffs that is on the secondary exhaust bracket that bolts up to the power steering pump area.
