unlock car with no keys - mission impossible
I bought a 997 and my old 964 convertible has been sitting in the garage for the past three months. Since room is an issue in my garage, I parked the 964 with the passenger side as close to the wall as possible. This way the passenger door cannot be open (mirror is no more than 1/4" from the wall). I didn't even think about not locking the car, it is just a habit, I guess. Tonight, since my wife's car is at the dealership for service, I tried to open the car to move it away from the wall so that my wife will be able to use it tomorrow. Well, too bad the battery is dead and the driver side lock does not work. I took apart the left headlight and - Murphy's law- the emergency cable to open the front hood is not there, it probably fell down or whatever, it is not there.
Any idea beside that of pulling the car away from the wall with brute force?? I tried to connect a battery charger to the wires of the headlight hoping that would have energized the circuits... it would work, if i had left the lights on. You just turn all the lights on but no power goes to other circuit.
This is so that the wife can use the car tomorrow, otherwise I'll just wait for this weekend, buy a few beers and move it with my buddies....
Thank you for your help....

Where is the starter connection?? I am sure the cable to open the hood is supposed to be there, behind the left headlight, because I found out about it a few years ago when I replaced that headlight. Thank you to everybody for responding. I appreciate it.

If you jack up the right rear of the car and remove the wheel, the starter is visible. The positive cable is a large red wire. I suspect that if you hook up even a small trickle charger to this, you will have enough power to open the door locks.

The positive terminal is the far left terminal in the left picture

As suggested above then, probably the easiest way is to borrow a trolley jack if you don't have one, jack the car up by the engine block and pull it away from the wall (I'd have a couple of friends help keep the car steady though when you're moving it!)

Dumb question: Why would you not be able to unlock the car with a key?
I would still take of the wheel and have another look under front left wheel liner for the emergency cable.
