Hi,

I absolutely love your car, you must be made up! Great photos too, they are the best I've seen of one of Paul Stephens' close up!

I had planned to find a good 964 C2 manual and do the same. I spoke to Sam at PS Auto-art with the intention of sending a car to them. But the car I bought was a beautiful original 70k mile example and just too good to send, and after talking to a specialist and other 964 owners who were organising a lynching party for me I decided to just make the car just a very good 964 (more on it later), so I completely understand what you mean about having no guilt ha!

Anyway you can judge for yourself if I did the right thing.
Happy motoring!
Paul

Love it - nice looking car for sure...

As to did the right thing or no - Honestly - PS Cars are very special - imho - and your average nice well preserved 964 is as special. It's a wash 1 to 1...

That said - if I were going to send a car out to PS - I just wouldnt send a museum piece...

Love your car. Would love it as much if it looked like a 911S. But the PS 911S would turn my head and make me drool more...just sayin...

Hi Paul, that's a very nice car, well done!

I would be very hesitant myself to send a good C2 to PS, especially now that they are appreciating in value so much and are getting rarer by the day. I had originally planned to find one myself (back in 2005/6 when you could get a decent one for £10k and there seemed to be more of them about) and couldn't bring myself to do it. It was the main reason it took me several years to go from wanting a PS car to actually having one. Not many PS cars came up for resale (at the time there was less than 25 of them total) and most that did were made to other people's specifications - I didn't want one that was a targa, painted a bright colour/RS rep or which was based on a 3.2.

Enjoy your car!

Was back at PS yesterday and got the answer they are just anodised. There are apparently a few different methods of anodisation, one of which creates the chrome-like shiny finish....

Amazing work! I only get to read and dream about these PS cars via 911&PorscheWorld mag over on this side of the globe.

Thanks, Frank. It's interesting how they pulled together the information - Paul and I were there speaking with them for hours - but overall I'm pretty pleased with the article. I do wish that the article would have focussed a bit more about the detail changes - there were a lot of other things done to the car recently that people looking to personalise their cars might be interested - and a bit less about my background, the previous owner and how I became interested in PS.

London 964 Owners Club got some props too - hopefully your trip will find its way into the mag...

Ben,

Thank you for the photos. My Touring R is set to be shipped back to Hong Kong next week. Paul and Sam have been such a good guys throughout the project, so helpful. However, it has been very difficult not seeing it at any point during the build.

Your car looks lovely and the spread in Total 911 was very cool. I really like the headlights that you used, they look similar to the Singer.

Enjoy the car!

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Ben,

I very much enjoyed the article and it all adds to the provenance of your beautiful car.

A few questions though: What was the final outcome with your choice of new HID headlights ? What are they exactly & where did you get 'em please? I'm sure they are a huge improvement but what's the comparison old for new?

They look great and I have been thinking, like may others it seems, of up-grading mine and I'm surprised the mag didn't pick up on them. Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

And finally, many congratulations on your wedding!

Cheers,
Paul

Default PS Autoart - Final Pics

As a last post for this thread, I've finally gotten the pics from the Total911 shoot (had to wait until that edition had been out for a while). Posting some of the good ones, hope you like them!
