Bosch KTS-301 no more
I finally came up with a compelling reason to buy myself a Bosch Hammer and called my local Porsche dealer. I was told there was only one left in the world and he could not order it. I then contacted Sonnen Porsche (no affiliation - I have had very good experiences ordering from them in the past) and received the following:
The part is not available.
Alas.
I thought others may find this of interest.
Cheers,
scped

Is there an alternative on the market for the Bosch Hammer? One that has the same functions, rather than the ones I have seen which does most but not all? I'm suprised there is no Iphone or Ipad app and cables yet...Seems it would be simple enough.

OBD1 is a small market. There are many OBDII compliant hardware products... but so few cars use OBD1 that the development costs are heavy.
Ricardo D and I built the OBD1Interface, and it does the "most"... as we are limited by the public domain version of Scantool. If some enterprising software developer wanted to partner with us, we might achieve the "all".
Right now the http://obd1interface.com tool does everything except for the PDAS locks.

There are a couple of options.
1)Buy one of the kits I made through Tom Bennett: http://obd1interface.com
- narrow backshell connector of my own design means a trouble free fit into the diagnostic port on your car, on my 1990 C4 the full backshell connector of the durametric kit would interfere with the glove box on my car so I couldn't plug it in cleanly when I tried us it
- alot of the guys on rennlist use this software and hardware either from my kit or from HW kit they built themselves, to read & reset trouble codes
2)Durametric Porsche system http://www.durametric.com/default.aspx
- if you have a C4 their system claims it will bleed differential locks like the hammer (but I still am looking for a rennlister to confirm that), the free scantool software can not do this

Goughary, time to invest in an old PC laptop running XP with a serial port just for this purpose, or a retired PC desktop machine.
I am a 100% Apple household except I have my old PC on cart in my garage to do two things:
1)read trouble codes on my 964
2)access the Mercedes free online part system for my 1972 280SE 4.5 (requires Internet Explorer, doh!)

Mojorizing, I missed this when you first posted, very nice, and a very big thank you on behalf of the tiptronic owners, I always dream of getting another 964 with tiptronic for the wife to cruise around in (she drove a manual as a teenager but is out of practice and won't drive my 964 now). I have seen some very nice tip models at a much better price than a manual.
