Only able to get 87 in my area for the near-term. I think I know the answer, but I'll still ask: How bad of an idea is it to use the 87 with an octane boost additive?
Hurricane Milton. First world problems given what many are struggling with to be sure. For those not in Florida, they prioritize fuel delivery quantities post hurricanes to simplify and speed up deliveries meaning most if not all pumps in a given area will likely be 87 only until supply chains normalizes. I was out of country and couldnt fill up with 93 before the storm. I'll just keep the car up and wait for 93 to return.
Fill up with 87 and buy some octane boost from your local auto parts store. You can then effectively make it 91 or 93 depending on the mixture/ratio. Not the most ideal situation, but can be done.
Go on Sunoco's website and look to see what local stations carry their 98 & 100 octane. I know it'll be expensive but a lot cheaper than the problems detonation can cause. Also try VP's site.

Octane boost could be more harmful actually. Just put 87 and drive conservative. Let the ECU take care of the adjustment.
I'm in a Hurricane Milton affected area so I filled my 992 with premium pre-storm. My wife doesn't plan ahead so she got 87 octane post-storm for her MB.
I also use Boostane at every fill up. Not sure the long term effects but 91 is the highest in Ak, I’ve read it can make your injectors (I think) turn orange.
