Default Sunroof jammed

won't completely close. Seems to be catching the part of the roof section on the front of the sunroof cut out.

Anyone have any idea why, and how to fix it?

Use it everyday, but this just happened.

Can you post some pics?

Is it catching the wind deflector?

That has "arms" that get pressed down to lower it so that the sunroof closes over the to of it.

think so. It's the black metal on the front which doesn't lower enough.

If you haven't already done so, check the tracks on either edge of the sunroof (will take more than just a cursory look). I had some debris from the trees above that got caught up in there and produced a like problem. Other than that check the mechanical links that connect the sunroof cover to the rest of the mechanism. There is a small plastic link, on either side, that broke on my car and also produced a like result to your problem.

Hi there,

it hapen to me as well, I use a pen to hold the front wing down, then close the sunn roof, there is 2 little plastic roods each side that are moving the front wing down when the roof is closing, there are quite brutal, with age they snap, the part cost about 50€ each and are very easy to replace (for a Porsche specialist)
good luck

Yup, most likely the deflector "hinge" broke.

I have the same problem. When I got the 964, the entire wind-deflector mechanism was removed. The lowering hinges were broken.

So, I replaced everything, and it worked nicely.
Now, when weather is heating up, I have the same problem with the wind-deflector catching the front of the sunroof, causing it to not close.

Upon closer inspection the only thing "touching" the lowering-hinges is the front metal-edge on the sunroof. I´m suspecting something is missing on the inside of the sunroof? Some "slider" to lower the wind-deflector-plastic-arms?

There is a white plastic guide on each side that helps the roof over the deflector. They do get hard and brittle and can break off. You should see two which tabs on the leading edge of the sunroof if the guides are present. If not then that is likely what happened (they broke off).

You do need to remove the roof to install them, but they are not that expensive. They are a bit tricky to get on without breaking so use care - they are molded square/flat so you don't need a right and left side, but where they are mounted is a little curved. Inside there is a hole where the other end snaps into the roof.

It will make more sense once you get in there and do it.

Thanks all. I use my sunroof almost every day, so one of the plastic guides must have snapped.

Where did you get the parts from? Pelican?
