From my weekly CL fix. It's a sickness. No affiliation whatsoever.

I CL "Porsche 911" and see what it turns up - you never know what nuggets you'll find...

I think the price sounds fair. It seems to me that he is the first one listing his car for sale recently that isn't drunk.

+1
Except for that last pic of the interior.
If it is what it appears to be, it looks like a nice, unmolested car, reasonable miles, fair price.

Still sporting high-water suspension settings after all these years.

Let's see... wants the looks of speed (w/ spiffy wheels), but w/o the bother of suspension lowering.

The guy (my first jump to conclusion) sounds like a maintainer w/ nodding wish of 'speed' association. (Sorta like the guy *I* bought from - which ain't at all bad)

Or, perhaps he left it high-water for better snow driving. ("Always garaged", notwithstanding.)

Default New 964 Owner

Well, I ended up driving to Philly and buying this 964 yesterday. My 5th 911 with previous ranging from 70 E to 997. I am very impressed with the condition of this car with 80K miles. The guy selling was retired military and meticulous to the extreme. I thought he was going to cry when I drove away. He bought the car from a friend (orig owner) in 2005 with 76K on the odometer. Apparently, he liked keeping it clean because he only drove 4000 miles in 6 years. It came with the D90s and the set of 3 piece wheels in the pic. Maintenance records are semi-complete. He paid the dealer $1200 to install new rear reflector and lenses as there were some cracks. The interior is flawless with even minimal wear on the seat bolster due to him putting the seat all the way back every time he got in and out. Not sure why but there were three sets of floor mats so the original ones would stay protected. Haha. The dealer who just serviced the car commented that the motor was bone dry and this is the cleanest 964 they've seen. Anyway, drove 6 hours back without a hiccup and got 23mpg! Stayed mostly at the speed limit though as cops were everywhere yesterday and I stuck an old expired tag on to get her home.

I am really enjoying the classic 911 feel mixed with some modern conveniences. These cars have a certain soul the the 997s lack, IMO.
He was asking 21,500 but took 19,500.

Mark

Great to see that well cared for examples still bring in a solid price.

Looks like a great deal. Although the offset on the front wheels looks... unfortunate.

Sounds like a deal assuming the engine is solid.

The car looks really nice and intact.

I have been watching 964 ads like a hawk recently and hadn't seen this car listed. I don't always click on C4 ads tho.

The seller didn't advertise anywhere except Philly Craigslist. He said he didn't really want to sell that badly. He told me if I didn't show up to look at the car on the day we had agreed upon, he was just going to keep it.

The thing seems rock solid thus far. I'm currently researching suspension and exhaust upgrades while trying to avoid the slippery slope of modification.

Great "car purchase" story! I love getting the background on these cars as they move on to their new owners. These are AMAZING cars for the money!
