Had one of those OMG moments last week. Kept seeing threads about dodgy bolts on the motors for Cabrio hoods, so despite having no problems with mine thought i'd better check them.

Of the 3 bolts, holding the transmission on, there was only 1 left, and that wasn' t even connected to the nut

Anyway, after an hour of trying to tighten a nut and bolt that i could only get to one end of, i finally managed to get 2 decent fixings of the 3, so it is now secured in place.

In fairness i did lose most of the skin on 2 knuckles, but hey, it's not real DIY without a bit of blood loss

Thanks to Rennlist again, good advice has saved me a very costly repair.

Also, i think i have managed to swap Saturdays at work, so hopefully can now spend more time at GT One next week.

Anyone know what the weather forecast is for Windsor next Sunday ?

Well done Darren, you saved a disaster there Can't imagine how we would all run these cars without Rennlist

I'm about to take on your 5 min. challenge to change my bonnet struts today! Will let you know how long it takes me

Looking forward to Windsor too, its bound to be hot & sunny

Good Luck Vic, i followed the instructions i found on Rennlist for the bonnet strut replacement, and the best advice they gave was to use a long piece of wood to lever them in and out, rather than a screwdriver, which can damage the paintwork.

Is anyone else going to Windsor ? A colleague from work may come with his kids in his 996. He will be going along to GTOne on Saturday aswell, so you can all meet him then.

He'll soon realise he bought the wrong 911

I'm a definate for Windsor
All the 911's will be directed into the same area. Last year Clinchy & the 911UKers had their own area; so that would be a good place to aim for (assuming they do the same this year).

GTOne now looking doubtful for me, as our in-laws have decided to visit for the w/e & I had better be around for at least one day...LOL

I'm guessing it will be easier to make our own way to GT One, or was the plan to meet at the usual spot on Saturday morning?

Unfortunately, it's looking like I won't be able to make Windsor which is a real shame. It will be the 3rd year on the trot, I've wanted to go but been unable to
