Might be ambitious.

For comparison, I weighed mine recently. with half a tank of fuel it came out at 1315 Kg. My weight reductions to achieve that are: removed rear seat backs, no engine undertray, Recaro PPs in place of standard seats, aircon pump/condensor/hoses removed, footwell sound proofing removed (replaced with plywood boards). A friend's 964RS lwt (including full cage) weighed on the same day came in at 1250Kg. So I agree that 1150 Kg is ambitious...but still a good target.

p.s. The 964RS crowd do the three day PCF event at Spa each year. Always a good do I've heard.

I thought I would post an update of where I am with this.

I spent a good deal of the weekend stripping glue and I also now have a 5 speed box with an LSD.

from this

to this

The car goes off later this week to strip all of the not needed items from the loom and other unwanted elec items in the car.

The interior will then be painted and hopefully Heigo will deliver the cage so the new roof can be fitted also.

Other stuff to come:

Harnesses for the Recaro SPG's
lightweight windows
Carbon bonnet
Uprated engine mounts
Short shift

Its coming along but there always seems to be other things to add to the list.

I was fairly dejected at one point over the weekend while stripping glue but a short drive listening to the engine/diff/gearbox without carpet fitted soon put me back on track!

Keep it going Lee! Tell me, what chemicals did you use to remove the glue? Petrol?

I used Goofoff on mine seemed to remove the glue pretty well. There is still a lot of elbow grease involved and you will want a good respirator w/ a volatile fume filter(a particulate filter is nfg)

You'll also want to take a grinder to that metal lump in the middle of the hump

Thanks for the comments.

I used thinners and rags with a wire brush for to stubborn bits.

Im dying to get rid of the sunroof but I have heard of horror stories when re skinning the roof and also problems when welding up the sunroof.

Confused!

If you car about appearance re-skining the roof is the only way to go

Hi, I have deleted the sunroof without doing the whole process because I only use a half cage Heigo and I am concerned about safety and rigidity.

We have emptied the whole mechanism ( rails, motor and steal sunroof itself) and replaced the steal sunroof it with a CF fiber sheet properly finished and painted in the same colour of the car, It looks professional and you don't see any seams or welds from outside...."only" lost 12 kilos on this process but have achieved the aesthetic part and have kept the structural rigidity intact.

Any close-up pictures of the roof and the carbon fiber sheet?

I am at 1290 kg (dry) in a C4 so 1150kg in a C2 is possible.

What are you worried about Lee with re skinning the roof?
