So, moving swiflty on.....
Here's the latest pics of Kermit in the fabrication shop.
The new boot floor and front panel are now in place save for a little seam welding. The new factory boot floor panel comes with the new style 993 battery tray pre-fitted, however in the interests of authenticity we decided to remove the unpick the original 964 part from the removed floor, unpick the new 993 tray and refit the original one. Photos show this detail.

And at the back of the car, the previously badly fitted replacement OSR quarter panel has been removed and all the mounting surfaces are being prepared to accept the new panel. It was interesting to find that when the quarter came off we found that the foam insert was missing which seals the void up the C pillar; which naturally also explains why the car always filled up with water when it rained on track. D'oh.
Me and Marc are now in discussion on how much further we go with the shell. I want to just paint the outside, floor & do minor repainting on the inside where the new quarter has been fitted, hence retaining the irreplaceable patina of the car; however Marc (being a self-confessed OCD/perfectionist) wants to go the whole hog and have the shell dipped and e-coated like the 993 Speedster & 9mRS builds so the car looks like new inside and out. Should we have a vote?

But do you seriously think you would be interested in a 9m93RS engine rebuild, 993GT2 interior restoration, 993 Speedster conversion, 964 Speedster hood refit, 964 Speedster brake & engine package (yup, 3 Speedsters!!), 964RS body & wheelarch restoration, 1978 Martini 930 restoration, 996GT3 repair, 996 respray, 911SC front end resto, E36 M3 Evo track car build, two 993 engine into 911 3.2 transplants, Boxster S engine rebuild and a 9m64RS conversion ???

Frankly this has potential to be better than the "I'd hit it" thread. At least from my perspective.

Patina.
Put an overdone 917 next to one still in its original battle colors - and I'll pick the latter every time.
It evokes my emotions, and not just my aesthetics.
- But that's just me.

And if you speak to Guido at Movit again, he will tell you that they have just finished engineering the first 964 conversion on a black Speedster which just happens to belong to our customer: I delivered it myself to their place in April 09 and we had it collected in December 09. I would say that would qualify it as being the first.....

If the sun comes out tomorrow as promised, I may just do that for you and post the photos on another thread.

Colin, take pics of everything.....I loved looking around when I was in the workshop just before Xmas....Santa didn't bring me any of the things I looked at, but having sorted out that wiring I'm loving my car even more and it sure now stops thanks to Robin fitting my bigger brakes!

It is a race car and I think you should clean it up as you suggested, and not go the whole boat, especially if you are going to track it in the future.

No, I agree, not too painful for you Mr H.
Although that said, I would really like to know why it appears to most that instead of having something constructive to add, your sole intent was to prove me wrong? If this was the case, even though we've seen each other at events often enough for you to air your views privately, could I ask you to take the time out to send me a pm and explain why this approach was necessary?
No more to add, thank you.
