Proper job. You're either going to do a job well, or leave alone.

Hi Colin,
As always à real joy to read about your projects.

Race patina or the full monty, hmmm. In My book there is nothing in between, either you do the full job down to every bolt and nut and that somwhat would loose the identityof this car so I guess My vote would be on the patina look even though I like shiny new looking Porsches. Again a real joy...

Best regards
Anders

While I certainly understand the idea of retaining the patina, I vote for full-boat restoration for the following reasons:
1. A good portion of the original patina will be lost due to the work already being performed.
2. The history of the car will be further preserved, and you can add your own patina over time.
3. Your work is outstanding, and I'd like to enjoy it via this thread...(I still have the article detailing the 993 RSR project!).

We look forward to updates regardless of whichever route you take.

Maybe it's me, and then again. However, I simply cannot get my head around why someone would want to go to all these lengths to "rebuild" a car, and then stop halfway, as if it makes some kind of difference to future values? why would it? I simply don't understand.

But do you seriously think you would be interested in a 9m93RS engine rebuild, 993GT2 interior restoration, 993 Speedster conversion, 964 Speedster hood refit, 964 Speedster brake & engine package (yup, 3 Speedsters!!), 964RS body & wheelarch restoration, 1978 Martini 930 restoration, 996GT3 repair, 996 respray, 911SC front end resto, E36 M3 Evo track car build, two 993 engine into 911 3.2 transplants, Boxster S engine rebuild and a 9m64RS conversion ???
+ Pics of any 964 RS Touring in Maritime Blue, having a refurbed interior that might be languishing in a corner. As I hear rumours there may be, just such a rarity in your charge!!!

No more to add, thank you.
Colin, you have PM.

I went for the full hog, well without acid strip. You do lose a bit of patia but the car looks great.

My view is avoid the acid and do top class repray on outside but retain Matter stickers and production nos in the original state on inside. It should only require tidy up of floors and side bars to look good.

I had airjack cylinders fitted too. Not original on the 90 car but it is the time to put them in if you will ever do classic races. I use the car so was to save effort in the pits.

How are the graphics going? You need to do them for Spa!

Default No. 7 Signal Car

There was a no. 7 car in signal green driven by V. Columbo.

You are not out of the woods yet.

Default cup No.7

Another pic of V. Columbo's No. 7 car. I don't have Vin for no.7 but I do for Car no. 5 and it is VIN WPOZZZ96ZLS409005. So it is quite possible no.7 is VIN WPOZZZ96ZLS409007

Max Moritz may be able to confirm who raced which Signal green Cup. Manthey or Columbo?

Just need to solve the riddle of why No. 33 was White then Green in 1990 series.
It is green on the poster but in the early races it is White.

I have LS409033. It was white when I got it and according to Porsche it was originally GP white; it's signal orange now. I don't recall any trace of green, but it's an old racecar and has had more than one repaint in my hands alone. If the race number corresponded to the chassis numbers, that would be interesting...

Default Cup no. 33 Manthey

It could be the Manthey Cup then? No.33

2nd pic is the No.7 Signal green car in the same race from 1990.

Checked some more of my 1990 archive and Kuemmehling sponsored 2 cars. 21 H. Bernartz
and 33 O. Manthey.

Cars swapped nos. for at least 2 races. Maybe signal one was being repaired?

My money is still on V. Columbo driving the 007 car.
