Default About 50 hp short of perfect...

Having owned my 964 C4 Cab for a month now, I love everything about it except that for me it is on the slow side of happy. Handles great, looks great, even just the perfect amount of stuff I can wrench myself.

But in my opinion this car needs about 300 hp to be right. Do any of you feel the same?

Sure, I'd like to have another 50hp, or 40, or 30......

It only takes $$$ and a little time for you to get there.

gonna say if you only want 50hp a supercharger is the way to go. they claim 100 hp but that is only with a intercooler so really only about 50-60hp

Can the rest of the drive train handle an SC/Intercooler, or does it have to be beefed up?

And are they insanely priced like the ones for my E55?

Agreed especially at altitude which is why I had a turbo installed with an intercooler and all the additional components needed for a correct/full system integration.

Regarding the drive train, short of the clutch, from what I understand all the stock components are able to handle up to double the HP. I have been running my Turbo now for over two years and have had no problems, knock of wood or course.

This isn't tough to do but is requires a realistic budget,....

Years ago, I'd agree - and in fact, at one point I ordered a super charger, but at that time it was my daily car and I discovered I would have lost the rear blower, which I didn't want.

Now, I find it's just right. Enough that it always makes me smile.

Not sure about a cab but my coupe was shy power so I did some work and it is putting down 247 to the wheels or roughly 290bhp. hate to say it is still 50 hp short. I am sure if I add 50 more HP I will say it needs another 50hp. My turbo is at 450Bhp it could use another 100hp.

The problem is too much is not enough.

Easiest solution is to do exhaust work, cup air box and chip it but you will hate the sound in a cab. Supercharging might be your best alternative.

I have a Protomotive Stage 2 designed and installed by Todd Knighton. Due to the altitude (9,700) the loss of power is almost 40% to a NA car. So I figured I needed to get the power back and then some. The basic design parameters were that the car is a powered-up DD street car built with longevity in mind over sheer performance. i.e intercooler, lowered compression, 1 bar, double oil cooler, etc. I makes me smile every time I get in the car.
