Default Ouch! Curbed a wheel. Paint?

I curbed a Cup 1 this AM... did a number on one of the spokes near the center of the wheel. That hurts, as they were perfect up to this point.

I can sand/paint... but does anyone have a recommendation for color match? Griot's sells a Wurth wheel paint that is supposed to be a match for german cars, but I have no idea...

grrr.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I refinished my Cup 1's a couple years ago. I used Griot's silver paint and clear coat. The silver was a good match but I would recommend using a different clear coat. I'd recommend using a good quality urethane instead. The Griot's clear dissolved when the tire shop rinsed the rim with brake clean to attach glue-on wheel weights. I think a urethane would be more resistant.

Edit: On my new car, I decided to have the wheels powder coated instead of painting them myself. The powder coat is more $$$ but is far more durable.

I'd opt for powder too; more durable. That is if I ever hard money to refinish the wheels.

Tom,

Wurth's silver paint doesn't match the Porsche silver all that well. Go to an autobody supply and have them mix the Porsche paint and put it in a spray can for you.

i posted a wheel filler/paint post on the 993 site a couple of years ago...if you do a search for " wheel curb rash repair photos" you can find it...epoxy 2 part marine filler and using the wurth silver paint...matched the cup wheels perfectly

I called Skip. His price is $150/wheel, and he does the entire wheel, which seems pretty reasonable to me. That seems easier than messing about on my own for just the one.

Ugh... Stupidity has its price.
