Does all Your cars have matching VIN:s (the stamped number just above the spare tire) with the white sticker that has the vin number and all option codes paint color etc on the underside of the front hood AND the plate that suppose to be on the a post seen through the windshield on the drivers side?
Can these differ on US cars I understand You don´t use the stamped number? Is this right?

No, mine do not. On my 92, the tub is stamped WPOZZZ where the VIN plate is stamped WPOAB. I know of another 92 car where they are just like mine. My 93 tub matches the VIN plate with both of them WPOAB. I wish it were reversed since the factory race cars were all stamped WPOZZZ.

Tub is ROW vs US+Canada specific but at the time when it is done factory do not necessarily know what safety equipment they are going to install into it later on in production line. Because of this they cannot put in correct 4-6 digits like WP0AB0 or something similat which tell if car has airbags, 3 point seatbelts etc. Thus WP0ZZZ is used but actual ZZZ VIN is not same as in ROW cars. 13th digit is different between different market models. One interisting result which comes out of this is that in many models there are two cars which have exact same body stamping except that 13th digit. One for NA and another for US. Up to largest VIN number which is shared with both markets. US tup stamping has Z in check 9th digit position also while other VIN in them have check digit which is counted from another 16 digits using fairly simple formula. This is perhaps easier to understand with example. These are '95 928 GTS.
There exists two different physical cars, one ROW WP0ZZZ92ZSS800061 and one US which has tup stamped WP0ZZZ92ZSS820061. US car VIN's in different locations like window post, door and option sticker all have WP0AA292_SS820061 where _ is some number between 0-9 or letter X. All 77 '95 US models made have their ROW counterpart up to ROW VIN WP0ZZZ92ZSS800137. After which sequence number just ROW cars exist. 964 and practically all other model VIN's use similar double physical car ROW vs US model setup. More 928 VIN samples in this thread.

Result from above is that when both ROW and US production is spread along production year from August to July there are two very different VIN cars on production line next to each other. Reason for July/August MY change is that factory workers have their summer holiday at the time and production line can be much more easily changed for new MY production if needed. ROW cars c0me out in order of their own 0061, 0062... etc. and US models similarly 0061, 0062... but in totally different speed so that at the end of MY production ROW sequence was 322 VIN's ahead even though they started at almost same time. Though in many model years its US model which was ahead at the end. GTS is little different in that only 406 US model were made in three years and seven months when 2400+ ROW cars where made in five months longer production period. In some years Japanise cars got their own set of numbers which was like ROW number exact that sequence started from 9561. Reason for 0061 being first is that starting from '83 MY Porsche has reserved 0001-0060 and 9501-9560 for prototypes and special cars. Before that reserved block was smaller.
M718 option is Porsche's way of making next year VIN cars some months before normal MY change point in July/August. They could do that starting from January 1st of previous MY. In case of '93 MY 928 GTS this means normal '93 MY cars where made between 09/92 - 08/93 while US M718 option early '93 MY cars were made in 01/92 - 08/92. These two sets of cars have different VIN sequences. For '94 MY Porsche did it again and made 19 early '94 GTS M718 cars in spring of '93 but they share same VIN sequence with 120 true '94 MY US model made during normal '94 MY 09/93 - 08/94.
Code:
MY Model Market Smallest VIN Largest VIN Qty Total --------------------------------------------------------------- 95 928 GTS ROW WP0ZZZ92ZSS800061 - 800459 399 928 GTS USA+CAN WP0AA292_SS820061 - 820137 77 476

I think geoffrey is right.
I think it is like this
All of the bodies are stamped with (example) WP0ZZZ96485xxxxxx.
This number is stamped as part of the initial vin of the car. The ZZZ stands for ROW manufacture. All tubs are stamped with this number upon initial build and corresponds with the internal factory paperwork. Us cars have the US vin stamped on a plate attached to the front left A pillar. ROW cars have a plate installed in the luggage compartment attached to the front right inner fender near the headlight assembly. I think I just solved my mystery

Except that my 93 has a WPOAB VIN stamped in the tub and the same number on the window pillar VIN tag...so I think it depends on when it was manufactured within the model year.
