We think it is good value as well, especially if you consider that most high mileage 964's need new cams and valve springs as a matter of course, but you should always keep in mind that this price is for a "typical" top end rebuild and does not include pistons and cylinders. Will's 964 Motec +1 had the benefit of a new set of P&C's, which is probably why the mid range torque of his engine is particularly strong.

Ilko went for a ride in the 9M USA car and he thought it was more powerful than his supercharged RSA.

A well tuned n/a engine will have better cylinder event recovery than a supercharged version and will produce more power in a dynamic, accelerative state. In other words, on track the 964 Motec +1 would blow the doors off the supercharged 993 after a couple of laps.

It's all true The 9M car pulled really hard. Very flat torque curve throughout the RPM range. It starts down low and goes all the way up to red line. As a comparison, my supercharged car runs out of steam by 6K RPM.

1. Basic 9m Motec conversion = £3500
2. 9m +1 upgrade including 9m Sport cams, valve springs, retainers & typical top end rebuild ~= £5000 (depending on condition of the engine)
3. Total = £8500 + 15% VAT = £9775

That is £10k.....?????

Dear 9m does the standard bottom end survive these mods......?

Demon this is the bit in chinease.....

The 9m Motec conversion costs £3495 +VAT, roughly £2500 for the parts and the rest for the installation & mapping. The 9m Motec +1 upgrade for the 964 is the same basic system but with the addition of 9m ported heads and 9m Sport cams, valver springs & retainers on the stock bottom end, the cost of this is around £2000+VAT on top of the price of a full top end rebuild, so usually around £5000+VAT for a typical re-ring with a full valve job and head reface.

EDIT..........

Ah yes...Wills car did have new pistons and cylinders on top and thats the place the horses escape........
Whats that gonna add to our motec xmas list?

Yes..........

I guess best thing is to add motec, which is on for good,( Colin says you can then mod as you go), then rebuild top end etc when the added horse wear it out.

mine in at center gravity at the moment having some geo work done, he's gonna steam clean my engine to try and find the source of the leak, so if anything it would be rebuild first for me...
