964 engine mounts
My left engine mount leaked yesterday. I was lifting it by the engine case to put it on jackstands. I could have replaced them while the engine was out, but they both looked good. Are there any good options besides stock mounts? I would be interested in a set or only a left one if anyone has a good spare. Porsche is very proud of the new stock ones.....

I also have WEVO solid mounts in my track car. I have the RS semi-solid mounts in my daily driver that was once used for track too. They are not much louder (given I have a LWF too).
Did you check you engine hanger for cracking or bending where the engine mount goes through it? I think both my cars have had issues with the hanger and so additional support was welded on.

Tom, if I go to an RS mount or aftermarket (WEVO) I'll buy the support. Thanks for the info. If I can find a good stock one, I may just replace it for now. One on e-bay for $70, but it's probably as old as mine.
Why are the left and right listed as different parts on the C2, but the same parts on the RS?

Jerry, yeah, it took a moment to realize what it was. It's 18 year old hydraulic oil. It smelled kind of like like old brake fluid, thinner than I would have expected for hydraulic oil. Ironically I was bleeding my clutch slave cylinder at the time. I couldn't figure out how the brake fluid got way back there. I never jacked up the car by the engine until now in fear of affecting the hydraulic mounts, but lots of guys do it, so I said "what the hell....". I guess mine must have been the original and was ready to go and the added stress in the opposite direction did it. I was hoping one of our brilliant members would have invented a reasonably priced alternative to the hydraulic mounts. They are expensive, as are the few commercially available alternatives. I wonder what the difference is in the 993 mounts. It's an engine mount, for God's sake....most cars (even the older and newer 911's) use rubber, it's less expensive, they rarely fail, and they work fine. I'll use what is appropriate and safe, just venting about the price. (and the fact I just had the engine out and could have replaced them then if I only knew....)
BTW, the left and right have different numbers, yet several people have said they are interchangable. Can anyone shed a factual light on this? I'm trying to learn what options I have available before I spend $200+ on one or $500+ on a set of new OEM mounts. I'm checking with Sunset today. Are the RS mounts a good option? Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks, you guys have helped me so many times before, I was hoping this would be a common problem with a simple (translated reasonably priced) solution.

I have a spare in the garage... let me go see which side it is and I'll get back to you... It was in good working order when it came off and you can have it for $30 plus shipping if you want (and it's the left one)...

I hope this thread stops the advice to jack the rear of the car by the engine. I found some flats on the trailing arms that fit my floor jack and safely raise the rear of the car plenty high enough for the top setting on my jack stands at the jacking pad in front of the back wheel arch. Got to lift each side rather than one lift at the engine, but that has to be better than risking engine mount damage.
Best of all, there is no need to remove the undertray.

Springer3, I agree. I'll try your method next time I need the car on jack stands. Usually I use the jacking points and put ramps under the wheels if I need to leave it up. Thanks
If you have RS mounts and the carrier reinforced, I guess it would not be an issue.

Yep... it's a lefty - has an "L" on it, and I also checked it by holding it up to the engine bay of my car and it appears to be a left side.
