But with a greatly reduced life span as compared to a stock motor, no?

Any racing engine has a reduced life span when compared against a stock engine. I limit racing engines (including 964 Cup which is basically a stock engine) to 100 hours.

The above mentioned engine still utilized a 3 ring piston and had a rev limit of 8000rpm. It was not one of the high strung 13+:1 compression, 2 ring piston, 8500rpm engines that last 25-40 hours.

So it seems from reading this post and others - with 9m heads and a reprograming of the computer or a Motec / Haltech system - I could reach the 350hp range...Does that seem right?

The most we have seen from a 3.6 litre engine running stock (993) pistons at11.5:1, Carillo rods, and a nice selection of 9m cams, heads, ITB intake and exhaust, on Motec, is 370hp. We did see a few dyno pull from this motor in the 380 region, but I put that down to an atmospheric temperature/pressure anomaly at the time of testing - I'm more comfortable accepting just over 100hp/litre.
