Monday morning speculation time:
1) Do ya think he made that driver's side radiator a 2nd oil cooler?
2) Added benefit of those wheel well liner holes? Is this an old (Cup) trick that I'm ignorant of?
3) Tub damaged by this? (by the accident -- not the wheel well holes.)

Yeah, it does look like the tub is bent, but probably not beyond repair. Not cheap though....
2nd oil cooler? Yeah, that was my thought too when I saw the kitty litter under it. I don't think you'd need that for R134....

Judging from the artsy-fartsy photo, it is repairable. Hitting the front of a 911 is a lot less expensive than hitting the rear. New bumper, new driver side fender, new oil cooler and he's good to go. Hope everything works out for the owner

...that look like an oil line connecting left side w/ right to you? (I've never taken off my front bumper to witness plumbing routes hung off that tub front.)

edit: my right above means the right side of the picture. That would be the left front of the car. Sorry for the confusion.

NOT a bent RSA!
This is a san Diego car and it is NOT an RSA - I was at Fontana this weekend.
Another car put major oil on the track, was black flagged - ignored it - and oiled the whole track.
Driver of pictured C2 was given a debris flag - was looking for debris saw none - didn't see the oill either, you can't steer in oil - so hit the wall.
I have to smile at all the "experts" who look at one picture and form their educated opinion on how easily the car can be fixed.
All four corners were hit - hard. Up the banking to the wall, across the track to hit the lower wall ..... not good. The important thing is that the driver was unhurt. It's a sad day when anyone wraps a P-car.
Anyway, I'll let you guys get back to explaining how easily it can be fixed.

"effectiveness of the liner holes"
From discussions years back with a knowledgeable Porsche AG race car service manager in Germany, you want to flow cool air from the 964 front bumper intake back into the wheel well in order to create positive air pressure in the wheel well itself. You can put a duct back into the well well (TechArt used to make a kit, by the way) from the front bumper (which some people call a brake duct) but all you really need to do is punch a sizeable hole (or holes, as this case appears to be) into the liner to permit air to come into the wheel well. By creating a more positive pressure area in the wheel well fed by cool frontal air, the wheel well will better evacuate the hot air from around the brake. Or so the story went. Jurgen Barth told me this personally, in case someone happens to recognize the name. I suspect he knew what he was talking about.

of all the 911 porsche wrecks that i have, the body structure is strong, not to say its not going to get bent up but the structure wise as far as staying together its solid.
