Default KENISIS K57 WHEELS

Hello All...

Some may know, that Kinesis was bought out by a wheel wholesaler.. and the news is not necessarily good for current Kinesis owners...

I had a wheel defect show up at the Glen a few weeks ago where one of the five spokes cracked clean thru... Guess is that it would have catastrophically failed if I had not caught it.

So one... if you have Kinesis Wheels... look at them. These have been great wheels and never had a problem with them.

two.. Lexani bought the name only so they cannot even repair my wheel.
There are no 17" centers available. They tried to find one, but could not.

So if Anyone knows of someone that has K57's that they want to unload...
(sell) Lexani may be able repair if I can find a center.

three.. if not, I guess I have three Kenisis centers for the next person to have a problem...

fourth... what's a good light wheel in 17 x 8 and 17 x 9.5. I really like the exposed contruction bolts on the Kinesis..

Thanks for any help.
Here's a pic of a K57

Regards,

Bob

I'm confused as to why Kenesis was bought in the first place. Are they not producing wheels or parts anymore?

The way I understand it from "Lexani" is that they bought Kinesis name only as a marketing move. They produce their own "Kinesis" wheels, but they have nothing to do with the original Kinesis name or build. And they make no 17" versions..

can you post a picture of the crack on the center? I have a set of Super Cup Kinesis to restore 8 & 9 x 17" and a set of Speedline Aliseo wheels ready to be built 8 & 10, or 9.5 x 18 or 11 x 18 depending on the car (wide body or narrow). Jim

Send me a PM if you want to sell your centers, we had a similar problem on one of our Kinesis rear wheels, they aren't k57's so they wouldn't match but its a racecar..

FYI-

Forgeline, CCW, Kodiak, Fikse, and Jongbloed all make nice 3 piece wheels. If the bolt count is right you should be able to buy Kodiak centers and use your Kinesis rim halves, this is what we are thinking about doing with ours.

Jim
Kinesis (Lexani)... is supposed to send my wheel back... I'll try to get a reasonable pic of it. (Lexani still does not sound right..)

Cory, think they are 40 bolt.. that's not a bad idea. It is a track car and the weights are probablly close.

This is not over I hope.

I bought some 18" Kinesis rim halves from Jeff Alton (604 313 3494) who sells Kodiak stuff out of Vancouver. He may be worth a try.

Jeff should be able to sell you the Kodiak centers, we have been talking to him about ours. I believe the Kodiaks also use a 40 bolt pattern and should bolt right up, hopefully the offsets are similar. We have extra wheels so it isn't a rush to fix but we will probably just replace all of the centers when we do.

I should mention that our Kinesis wheel failed after a long and hard life on the race track and not due to any defect in materials or manufacturing.

Thanks Larry and Cory.

I will touch base with Jeff..
Seems like something mayl work. The rim halves of mine are fine. as long as the centers don't push it out/in too much, I can pretty much like a lot of wheel looks..!

Bob
