Thanks

Ok...i have to confess i have not read every post in this thread but i'm too damned excited by what i have read so far!
Is it possible for someone to put together a "kit", all the parts and instructions or completed ready-to-go units?
I would certainly be in to purchase one or two.

There is no kit of parts but there is nothing to stop an enterprising individual offering such. He will likely find it an unprofitable enterprise. Those who have already got a working "being" will tell you that there really are very few parts required for a bare minimum set up.
There is no online way of obtaining the software at present though again nothing stopping those with the software from finding a host (not my field i'm afraid) i don't know if rennlist members can post up zips if they can then a rennlist member could post up the software zip!
Please remember that this was originally a quick fix for those with a bit of electronics and software knowledge. It's not a turn key approach!

Craig001,
If you read the threads on both the 964 and 993 forums you will find enough DIY stuff to build an interface.
There is one interface on the 993 board that requires a few transistors and would be very simple for someone with rudimentary construction skills.
If you have no experience in that direction, try a local High school ,Amateur Radio club, etc ?
USB would require a USB interface and software drivers. This would raise the cost and narrow the range of solutions.
USB serial interfaces are widely available. The only issue is that the success of a particular type does depend on the application and the host PC.
The other option is to find an older laptop with a serial port.
Persist with this project.Well worth the effort !
Good luck
Geoff
