This is going to get super pathetic right now but you seem to like it.

Lets get something straight right now. You just said 225/60/16 and a 255/40/17 are the only approved stock tires from porsche and that porsche has spent a small fortune evaluating whats right for our cars. Now I know im stupid and all. But black betty who started this if you go look at his thread for his car is trying to find 18 ruf wheels for his car. Now I am going to be AMAZED when he fits either a 225/60/16 or a 255/40/17 on a 18 inch wheel. Like amazed world 1st. He also says people on here run a 265 rear tire. Well you just said the approved tires from porsche and I dont see 265. So the person who started this whole stupid thing who is giving advice is also in the wrong? right? Also when I was at players classic at goodwood. His car was there on im sure 18 inch wheels. He even went on the track. So here someone is trying to give me advice that I didnt ask for because im not using what porsche says and im going to damage a whole list of parts that he said. Yet hes also not on the approved porsche sizes on a track pushing or should be pushing his car to the limits. OK. And im in the wrong?

I NEVER asked anyone on here for advice. I never posted my own instagram picture on here and asked anyone why the tire blew did I? so dont say to me its because I know better. No its because I never asked anyone for advice on here about the tire. Obviously the reason why he posted it is because he wanted to prove that stretch and using a tire out of manufactures specs is wrong and dangerous. But its not out of tire manufactures specs is it? so once he knew that then he had to start about the diameter of the tire. Which again I didnt ask about.

But yet im the ******* here and I dont respect you guys right? For some reason you think im a 17 year old kid and the 964 is my 1st car. Or 1st performance car or 1st time changing tires on a car. Look I get it the diameter is off the sidewall isnt as tall etc etc etc. But did I ask for advice on why my tire blew? or what size tire I should use? NOPE I did not. I didnt know my 964 was owned by you all. Ill go to the dmv tomorrow and put all your names on the title.

If you are honestly that worried about only running what porsche approved on your car or other peoples cars as thats what you are making such a huge deal of. You better have no after market parts on your car. Suspension air filter brakes etc etc etc. You could carry on for days. Which means about 80% of owners on here or anyone who has anything after market on there car is also going against what porsche recommend. Yet we have had what 3 pages now were I am the only person whos wrong.

Mixter
Maybe they should respect me. And when I want advice ill ask for it. I didnt post about my tire someone else did. I didnt ask why it blew. I didnt ask about anything. Yes maybe they do know more about these car and they most likely do. But I clearly did not ask for advice. This is a thread about pictures of 964s. Not a thread of lets post a picture from someones ig try blame it on stretch and have a huge debate about what is factory approved or not. Im sure with the way he is. He was most likely laughing at the fact that my tire blew with the way he has been on here.

Now can we get back onto pictures please

Sorry I was away and this was the first chance I had to read this.

I am sorry you feel this way and my intention was not to insult you. I will probably be hated for even reopening this I have no doubt. I was just talking generalities about a growing concern. It is common knowledge what was being discussed yet for some reason it doesn't apply to some.

FYI a 265/35/18 is approved by Porsche for the 94 turbo 3.6 on a 10 x 18 Inch wheel nothing prior to 94 turbo was approved for this. I do run them on my track car in that size despite Porsche not approving them so I will give you that. However they do not have the same issues as the tire rim setup you are using. I am sure nobody was trying to say you or anyone was trying to put a 16" or 17" tire on an 18" rim. It was the lack of sidewall I was pointing to as a growing problem and I wasn't laughing at anyone I just don't get the need for it. I have been around Porsche's for nearly 40 years and have seen many things come and go for a reason.

Without pointing any fingers I have seen a huge increase in lower than normal sidewall profiles being used and very low ride heights. This is a direct cause for tires to blow out and you can deny it but you would be wrong. I have extensive experience with these and other Porsche's and what works works for a reason.

I am not trying to be a ***** (sometimes I can't help myself) but if you guys want to do this go ahead. What I do have an issue with everyone saying how the car handles like it is on rails no less than a properly set up 964 and sidewall height has nothing to do with why a tire blows out like this.

My good friends body shops biggest growing customer base is the young driver attempting to put undersized tires on over sized wheels not only Porsche's but BMW's Audi's and so many other makes. Here is a picture of the remaining wheel and tire from a BMW. The owner had a massive blow out after hitting a small pot hole at excessive speeds and is lucky to be alive. This is the wheel that survived yet the owner insists it was the tire manufacturers fault and after lengthy conversation and showing him other similar occurrences that my friend is making a living off of he still insists he is correct and we are wrong. (BTW this is his third occurrence in less than a year) Obviously he drives the car hard and is constantly running on the sidewall. There are many problems going on here. When people are dead set they are correct there is nothing that can be done to educate them but I try my best to help where i can.

I want to say your amazon green 964 is very nice I happen to be biased towards the color and you appear to have a great passion for the car. I hope you have no more issues however I would expect otherwise based on my experience. It is just the laws of physics at play here and I have nothing to with why it works the way it does.

Here is a picture of my C2 setup for track use VIR in particular and I have tried many different suspensions and setups ride heights etc. There is an optimal point where these cars handle the best that is why I am overtaking a far more powerful car. The lower you go the more needs to be considered and adjusted. I found as I went lower it only caused more issues and I became slower. So I say this not to put down anyone but to hopefully educate. There is nothing wrong if you like the way it looks but don't try to convince me that your car handles the best it could at that ride height. The car is running 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 on 8 & 10's in approved 3.6 Turbo sizes

It does look good though. All the best.

Again why are you trying to tell me things that I am not asking about? and why are you now bringing up sizes that are approved for factory turbo cars. I dont have that I have a c2. Just let it go. I have ran 35 profile tires for years and years and years. Were in anything did I say anything about handling at my ride height or with my tire choice? You are just looking for ways to argue. In the years and the thousands upon thousands of miles(including long distance road trips) I have driven. Both in the uk and america this is my 1st ever blow out. You would be in shock to learn that the car now has a 225/35 on it. Kill me now.

Relax dude, I thought you guys understood Monty Python type humour

I have no time for Porsche approved snobbery so find it very refreshing to see something a bit different like your car.

It tells me you have more imagination and passion than a room full of guys with open check books paying for Porsche approved car builds.

I am assuming this was pointed at me? Just for the record I don't have deep pockets just purchased the right cars at the right time probably before he was driving. I am building this car currently https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ad-long-3.html with a very small budget and I would venture to bet Sparky has spent more on his car since he got it than I am on this entire build. Some say I know a thing a or two about these cars but obviously he knows better than the rest of us here.

I invite him out to the track one day I would be happy to pay his way I would love to see how long he lasts driving that car at speed at a track like VIR or the Glen. It would be a shame to see it destroyed though, it is pretty.
