Suspension changes
not saying you should or shouldn't, but no where did I say put your chest over the spring top during disassembly. Lay the spring on the ground; maybe even if you use the compressors.
just don't "shoot your eye out".

I called Autozone about a spring compressor. They said they have 2 types. One that goes inside the spring and one that is on the outside. Anybody know which I need?

Got the spring compressor and tried it out. Works great. Think it will make it easier and safer. $40 to borrow as long as needed at AutoZone then you get your money back. Great deal.
Another question. How much thread do you'all leave exposed on the screw on perch end of the shock. 1 1/2" drop variable rate lowering springs. Dont want to be to low that I hit everything. Also like a little bit of a rake towards the front. Be doing this with Intrax and H&R springs on the 2 cars if that makes a difference.

Jim; just had the car out today, and with 10mm front and 20mm rear from the bottom of the thread to the collar, I have had no trouble. I have not hit the steep driveway yet, so I can't comment yet.

And that was how I got my first black-eye.

Doesn't anyone bother with corner balancing anymore? The correct weight distribution is critically important for handling as well as for tyre wear.
It doesn't matter how much spring perch thread is left exposed once the corner balancing is done. I very much doubt it will be even.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Yes Adrian, I am planning on having the car CB'd and aligned immediately following the changing of the suspension. Even though I am not tracking my car, and several have told me not to bother with the CB, I am having it performed anyway.

If you are advised by a fellow Porsche owner that corner balancing is not required the best answer to that is;

Adrian, can you be more specific? Are you saying we should pick a setting, like from your book, and set the car to that? I will tell the shop that I want RS settings when they go to CB and align.
thanks in advance for the reply, and feel free to call me thick in the head....
