There was a link to a spy video in one of my earlier posts. The problem with videos of CNC machining is cooling, which keeps everything out of sight. Machining without cooling makes the surface less smooth. So not much sense to turn that off just to record a video.
Prepping for the arrival of these and noticed that 2/4 of the washers under the chain housing nuts protrude past their surface. In the image below from the left side, the top one slightly protrudes and the bottom does not. The are the correct size washers according to the PET and my caliper measurements. (18x3mm)
Will the flat surface of these billets covers interfere with these washers as they sit?
Is this an oversight by the engine builder and should I correct it by replacing the nuts and re-torquing them with the washers pushed away from the edge? Or is this not a potential cause for the horrible leaks (with new rubber grommets) I had?
Guys I cought a week - week and a half delay.
unfortunately could do nothing about it as both myself (and my family) as well as my CNC machinist got Covid :-/
Fortunarely we’re recovering quickly, so things move forward.
The left side covers are done at the CNC shop.
today I received the right cover for quality check - all good. They will start machining the right covers probably even tomorrow.
This means that in about a week I should have all at hand and heading for anodizing.
Attaching photos of the right cover (that I got for QC).
cheers!
PS. I will have one set available, as it seems 911ren20 crashed his car badly :-(
Great progress. Sorry to hear about the COVID, and especially sorry to hear about 911ren20‘s mishap. As I recall he was making ready to bring the car back to stock for a new owner. Very sad.
