964 spoiler module removed-spoiler light still on
My car is a modified 90 964. Whale tail, racing seats and other mods triggering dash lights. The spoiler light comes on even though the spoiler module has been removed (checked under the passenger seat since it is a 90 and also above the passenger footwell). Thoughts?

What is the part number of the module you removed?

Mine’s a 92, but it looks like the 90’s are setup a little differently:

I wonder if the central informer is looking for cont signal (possibly gnd) from the spoiler controller.

The spoiler control module for our 1990 model lies under the passenger seat. It looks just like the module under the dash above the passenger footwell, but that module controls the door locks. I learned this only after selling the door lock module, thinking it was the spoiler control unit.
I have a similar aetup, but no light issue.im guessing the PO simply pulled the bulb, because the module was still there when bought the car and there were no light issues.

The spoiler warning lamp is a open collector output on the control unit. If the bulb is still lit when disconnecting the control unit, it must either be due to a short-circuit somewhere, or that the wrong unit has been removed. The lock control and psoiler control units share the same housing and connector type, but obviously has different part numbers.

So a bit of an update and has me puzzled. So no spoiler module under the passenger seat (proper place for a 1990) and just the central door lock module under the passenger side dash. Upon starting, spoiler light is on and then goes off and stays off while speed is under 45 mph or so. When speed goes above 45 the light comes on (and stays on until I come to a stop) and then the central warning ! light comes on. I would remove the spoiler light on the clock but the damn ! warning light will be coming on. Since the spoiler light is speed sensitive it would seem like it has to be controlled by the module, but it simply is not to be found. Any thoughts?

Tom, could you direct me to the location of the connector in the bay? Thanks.

Hi, it's located between the fuel filter and power steering reservoir. It's a circular connector where the original engine lid harness would have plugged in.

The bridge shown on Pelican Parts...
I spoke to an auto electrician and went for a neater option. Bought an extra cable that runs from the spoiler to that connector, which he trimmed and created the bridge inside it, meaning it's an easy swap out if decide to go back to the stock deck lid and retractable spoilers (which I did).

Thanks for the last three posts--super helpful. When the PO had the mods done 8-9 years ago the chassis was stripped for paint. Appears the spoiler wiring harness was removed. Just adds to the mystery with the module also appearing to be missing.
