Default 993 ignition coils in Place....wowww

Installed the 993 ignition coils today.
Very impressed! Engine is more responsive.
3 hour job to do it right.
Managed to use the original brackets.

Cool! I’m getting ready to do this myself. What material did you use and how much fab was required?

If you just lay all parts (bracket, coils pack, etc) on the bench you will find out easily the best way to mount the 993 pack,
I used a 8mm drill to drill two holes so the coil will fit the black bracket and front bracket (coper colored one) will connect the coil on the left side.
I used a little lock tide to secure the nuts.
Tip, put some tape om the position you need to drill to prevent 'skitting', first dril with e.g. 3mm drill a hole before using the 8mm.

Thanks! Specifically curious as to what you used for the cooling plate.

This is on my list for a project in the coming months.
Have a little bit of a misfire and hoping this will cure it.

I used the original cooling plate with the original bracket! Only had to drill one hole to fit the bracket.

Has anyone done dyno testing to see if it is actually making an improvement?

There's a rubber boot to cover the terminals, factory # 993 602 801 00 and they aren't expensive, you need 2

If anything, I'd say it just saves some room and weight IMO. I did the mod just for that.

Anthony - we can assume zero performance gain. But we also assume the issues with poor quality 964 coils are taken care of as 993 guys don't complain about bad coils very often.

It'll be interesting over time to see if we don't lose coils like we used to.

I have never come across a bad coil personally on a 964. i have the ones left over from my 993 engine as they wouldn't work with my ECU i might save them in case.
