Hard Pipe Blues...(rant)
Does anyone know why a new set of straight hardpipes has to cost so D*#! much? It seems like a pretty easy fab if you have the right shop. I'd really like to get the straight pipes, but at ~$400 for two pipes?!? Am I missing a cheap source out there, or are they all this expensive? I'll probably wait for a group buy or until I can find a friend with a well equipped garage so I can make them.

Mike - I have wondered the same thing. Any competant machine shop should be able to make them CHEAP. Part of the issue is the polishing (which I could care less about), that adds a lot of costs and dollars.

the answer is simple, the pipes can be made for 20 bucks, but you need to measure, trim, fit and such but it can be done at home. I went to home depot awhile back and made a set from hard plastic drain pipe. It worked fine, then i upgraded to stainless steel from tim at speedforce racing. Both fit and worked perfectly. I can make them for 20 bucks so should you, give it a try its easy. PS it wont melt either, i know for a fact as i ran them for over a year. 3 inches is about as big as you should go, good luck

I agree, there used to be a guy on the list that made them, Sean951. Ive emailed him twice with no response, last I heard he got out of the 951 game. Luke has his hardpipes, Im sure others do as well. They looked really nice and I wish I would have bought them then as I dont want to pay 400 for those dudes.

I am about to make a batch. They will be mild steel or aluminum, and powder coated in most colors. The price will be cheap. I just upgraded my garage with a 1/2 hp drill press, a 1 horsepower bandsaw, a metal lathe and a 16 ton hydraulic press. Also an aluminum welding kit and Argon to go with my Mig welder. I've got plans to turn out some good performance parts that we can actually afford.

We are in the process of having some made of light aluminum and stainless steel. These will be mandrel bent,so no restrictions and no hot spots.Best of all, they will be affordable and available in raw or powdercoated versions. The most expensive part of the hard pipe kits out there,is the silicone hoses and T-Bolt clamps that come with the kits.
Are aim ,is to offer a better kit for less then the competition. I will keep you posted.
