Bridgestone RE11's are available in 245/45 R16 and 225/50 R16 which are the right size for 7" 9" rim combo and are excellent tyres. Also Toyo TR1 are avaialble and they are pretty reasonable tyres. I wouldn't go for 50/55.

245/50/16 has a noticeably taller sidewall ( looks wrong ) but more important than than you will be gearing you're 951 even higher( larger rolling radius) & the standard gear ratio / final drive is too tall to start with , so much so we have been installing the 944S2 crown wheel & pinion in our & customers 951's for the last 15 years + , which makes them feel so much better in overall acceleration in street & club track events
Its much better to stay with the 245/45/16 rears , here in Sydney Australia we mainly use the Toyo T1R because its the main option we can get reasonably quickly ( most of the time ) & luckily I / we find the Toyo T1R to be a very nice road tyre , it rides very well over poor road surfaces & its quite in operation & quite good in the wet

The t1r's have been on 86 for about a year. Good tire and they are $115 ea for rears at tire rack though I may have picked mine up on Amazon last year. http://m.tirerack.com/tires/TireDeta...um=445WR6T1RV2

i looked into the recent N-rated tire posting from Porsche Classics and have many questions, i can't find an exact match to my factory provided 7J 205/55 ZR16 and 9J 245/45 ZR16 tires unless i choose a '89 944 S2 for the fronts and a 944 S2 ROI for the rears... not to mention my car '89 Turbo is listed in the 17" wheel section, i have 16's and they list different specs than what the factory shipped her with

The P classics listings are a bit all over the place. An '89 944 turbo will have come with 16" wheels, almost certainly 9" and 7" forged ClubSports or possibly 7.5" x 9" cast D90's. In both instances the tyres will have been 225/50 ZR 16 front and 245/45 ZR 16 rear.
The 225/50's are available across a wide range of brands the 245/45's are less easily available but there are still some good options. As advised above Toyo T1R are a great everyday tyre, Bridgestone RE11 are an excellent road/DE tyre and Toyo R888 are also good for DE and dry road use. Pirrelli have recently bought out a 245/45 16 P ZERO TROFEO R which is another street/DE option. The Pirelli is listed specifically for the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 but I see no reason why that wouldn't be a good option for our cars too.
Pre 1990 ZR rating stood just for 'High Performance' and Porsche recommended using ZR tyres that had been tested to 150mph. Now ZR tyres get additional ratings of V, W, and Y which equates to 150, 168 and 186 mph respectively. All the tyres I've listed above are W rated other than the Pirelli which is Y rated. So all exceed the ZR V rating that was the Porsche standard of the time.
Hope that helps.

Grab those RE-11's in your stock size, you won't do better than that and they are sticky summers. I've run a few sets and liked them quite a bit. They are not competitive in auto x now that the Re-71R is out but for a DD they are excellent!
