Pics of 968 brake duct to 944 adapter
I have a set of 968 M030 brake ducts and will have to attach them to my 951 control arms & struts. Does anyone have pics of aftermarket or home made adapter brackets to fit the 968 ducts to the 951 ? I know various people have done this and I am wondering what approaches have been used. I am wondering if it is wise to be doing any drilling at all into the aluminium control arms.

I use those ducts, but I have the reinforced steel control arms, and I was able to mount it using some aluminum straps bolted to some that already exist in the control arm, e.g the ball joint mount. The Frozen Rotors kit looks like it includes the ducts themselves. Have you checked with them as to whether they will sell you just the brackets? I considered making aluminum straps that would clamp around the control arm in a fore and aft direction without any drilling before I figured out a way to use the existing bolts.

Smokey, thanks for the info. I am thinking it would be possible to attach a bracket using a combination of a metal strap (similar to header wrap straps) and fixing it to the sway bar to control arm bushing at the other point.
I didnt actually contact frozen rotors about their brackets but its probably worth asking.

I just spoke with the frozen rotors people and they do sell the brackets separately for $50. Apparently the installation involves no drilling. The description they gave me said that it was a case of undoing one nut and installing the bracket. Given that there are not a lot of nuts in that area I guess that means that the bracket connects to the sway bar-control arm mounting point.

If you have replaced your control arms with the updated part number starting 944 then they should have cast holes for the scoops. Porsche only sells one control arm that fits all 85.5 and up 944,951,968 cars. The exception is the M030 arm which is stupid expensive.
FWIW, the scoops that fit on the control arms are about $18 a piece list from Porsche. I just bought a pair and put them on my car with the stock strut mounted piece for my 89 car.
Check with your dealer on these parts $150 seems high to me unless you have OE control arms and have to buy the brackets.

I'm trying to do the same for my 1986 944 Turbo, and have a few questions:
1) I have an old document that says that you need 3 parts: the "accumulator" (piece that sticks below the car), the deflector (piece that moves air towards the rotor), and the backing plate. But the frozen rotor kit exclude the backing plate. Do I need it?
2) I've seen some posts that claim that 85.5 cars ('86 Turbo included, I presume) have the mounting bolts already in the a-arms. Is this true?
3) If not, what's involved with fabricating a mounting bracket? It looks like a simple piece of metal, bent into a shape.
4) Does anyone have a photo of the installed kit, to show the correct orientation?
Thanks,
Hunter

Bumping this thread back from the dead!
FYI - Frozen Rotors still sells these kits, and I was able to purchase the mounting brakets and hardware alone - I already have the scoops - for $50.
Another example of what a great resourse this list can be!
