944 turbo caught fire!
Scary experience driving my car on a joy ride. As I was approaching my families car dealer my 951 started smoking me out through the air vents, I was alarmed and pulled over to the side of the road. my first initial thought was it was overheating and my gauge wasn't reading accurately, but sure enough as I open the hood I see huge flames engulfing the engine bay. I ran towards my families business and started filling a bucket of water (in my despair I had forgotten all about a fire extinguisher!) luckily an employee ran out with a fire extinguisher and managed to put out the fire. What a scary experience, I'm thinking a fuel line was the culprit, so people if you don't know the last time your fuel lines were replaced do so as they are prone to leaks causing scary experiences like mine.

there is a DYI thread on this forum from a defunct vendor, you can save maybe 9-10 bucks by making them yourself.

All the rubber lines that are under pressure are failing at this age if they are original. This year mine all finally started to go - brake lines, fuel lines, and power steering. I'm amazed they made it as long as they did. My 86 951 fuel supply line was one piece all the way back to the smaller hose coming off the fuel filter, so don't believe the schematic that shows you can replace just the front part of the hard line if opting to replace the hard lines. You might need the entire hard line, so double check what you have before ordering.

The fuek rails develop small cracks where the supports are brazened on. Almost im perceivable, but they will weep fuel.
The other big culprit is the jumper hose from the regulator to the fuel rail. It is at a tight radius and tends to fail on the inside where you can't observe it.
I know at least two 951s whose Installation of fuel rail wasn't perfect. One got lucky (me) and my buddy did not.
It's real easy to think your Fuel injector is seated properly but you miss it being a bit wonky.
Oil line leaks can be a culprit too, but usually it's fuel related.
