You really don't need anything bigger than a Teal 38.

I got my TiAL F38 from ATP Turbo for $234 plus $15 shipping. If you add the $133 for the adapter plates from fejjj it's still cheaper than the F46.

Question...

Does a larger wastegate have an effect on spool response? ( eg. does a larger wastegate equal a quicker spool up?)

I'm pretty much all set to get a TiAL F38 (I have fejjj's adapter plates), just curious if I should go bigger for faster turbo response.

Sorry, I'm not trying to thread jack, but I'm very interested in this subject as well.

Cheers

The Synapse I attempted to use wouldn't allow my Profec electronic boost controller to regulate the boost pressure. Synapse, then, forced manual boost control by using differing spring rates! PITA. Sold it, and am a happy Tial user again.

Larger wastegates are for running lower boost, bypassing more exhaust from the turbo.

For example you'd probably use it on a higher compression N/A with a turbo running 5-7 psi you wouldn't need the turbo to work hard so it'll need less exhaust gas.

We want more boost because of the low compression engine so we don't have much exhaust leaving the turbo.

i have an mvs38, it was a bit of fab work to get everything to sit pretty. its is a physically smaller unit than the f38. I didnt bother with the water lines, and really like the difference between the worn out stocker.

Well decided to go with CRBE's 40 mm Tial. That seems to be the least expensive reasonable solution. That and the completely rebuilt K26/6 turbo will be installed at the same time. Will probably still be a couple of weeks down the road but I'm really looking forward to getting the new pieces installed.

Thx to all for all the suggestions and help.

Michael
