Here’s the mounting disk for the release bearing. This will be welded inside the bellhousing.

Yup... must seem painstakingly slow to most. Thanks for being patient!

Thoroughly impressed by your attention to detail.
Way more impressed by your determination to see it through!
Most people last about a year into something, then say screw it and part the car out.

How confident are you/Spec (?) about future supply chain for that TOB?
Solstice was a very limited production, niche car.
Or is that part shared on other platforms too?

I feel like we are a much smaller niche (944 07K swaps) compared to Solstice and Sky production. I believe around 26,000 of the turbo versions (GXP and Redline) were sold, and those are the ones that use this particular release bearing.

However, if the supply of those parts dries up, the good news is it is very simple to put a different TOB in it's place. The nice thing about designing around the Solstice GXP unit is it's pretty large, so there is ample room in the bellhousing to put an adapter plate and a smaller TOB (such as the VW 07K TOB), or any of a myriad of aftermarket TOB's.

Really great project. with the successes Audi earned in the '80s,
i oft wonder; if only Porsche and Audi had come up with a world class effort
for a high displacement 5 cylinder (maybe w/ variocam) for as a focused
replacement to the 944 and 928 moving forward.
looks like the proper family evolution for the 944 becomes reality in this case.

Although not high displacement, I would argue they did quite well working together in the creation of the Audi RS2!. Now able to be legally registered in the US.

Default Getting ready for the swap!

Decided to play the forged crank lottery with an early engine. Can't wait to get Alan's bell housing and drop it in.

That's one mean little wagon... would love to drive one someday. Looks like they are pretty pricey now, though (~$50k?).

dont recall it being covered but would the stock 07K exhaust manifold clear a 944 body?

OT, Mike H. did you ever end up using that FMIC I sent you?

The factory manifold will work with modifications. The factory outlet flange will need to be cut off and reclocked or replaced with a v-band. I think it makes more sense to use Gallardo manifold personally.

Not yet, but it’s going on the widebody car. I didn’t realize this was you!

yup, i'm that guy...curious to know how it ends up working for you.
i was concerned it'd block flow to the rad but since then have seen a number of folks not reporting any issues.

I THINK it should be fine. Then again, I am going to be running an aluminum rad and doing some serious ducting for cooling and aero
