It's just not gonna happen here in the US. You'll be able to buy a really nice 88TS or 89T for ~$10k for years to come.

Prices have remained steady for the last 10-15 years here, while the E30 M3 started to go bonkers about 7 years ago.

Even crap E30 M3's still sell for $15k and the rebuild prices on those S14 motors start at $10k...

I've been looking, but I haven't seen any nice ones available in that price range. The nice ones I've seen are in the high teens. If I saw a nice maintained red or black TS for $10k, I would have bought it!

Yep, the chart confirms it. The trend started in 2010 and it hasn't exactly plummeted from there. The people who buy these cars are getting of the age to be nostalgic, and demographically they are getting to be a much larger group. Any expensive, passion driven 80's car I would look to be going up in value (have you seen the price of Deloreans lately? That car was a POS when it left the factory). When I put my car on Facebook in front of my friends, they all said "16 Candles! Sweet!" Music to my ears.

I literally sold a stock I was playing with to buy and fix up mine...my thinking is that I KNOW cars, and playing individual stocks is like playing in Vegas... so the Porsche is just one of my long term holds in the portfolio. Much better to drive than my stocks too...

Is it going up in price? Well, I rate it a "buy".

Another important point at least to me, since my car will never be in the "expensive 951" bracket is that unlike a newer sports car, I can drive this thing for years to come and it at least wont loose value.

I tend to agree these cars have no where to go but up. What other car can perform, ride or handle as well as a 951 for the money. They are simply stunning in every way and people are just starting to appreciate them. I have been going to the pca off and on for the last 11 years and never had anyone care about my car, but the last meeting I had several people ask about it and ask to take a closer look at it. People are really just starting to become interested in the model.

Dimi, do it! That is a good deal on a nice car, and you and I could pass each other on 340, and it would be like looking in the mirror. I'd love the local cops have to scratch their heads and wonder instead of just always pulling me over.

Doc, with all due respect you vehicle, ceased to be a 951 the moment the 2.5L turbo charged engine was removed, call it whatever you want to, but 951? please that's something your vehicle no longer is. Indeed a 951 that won't blow up a the track is priceless but your car is not.

Peed, FYI, The 1988 951S does have a sunroof, I know because I have one. I believe(not certain though) that the only difference between 88 and 89 is the term Turbo S and a transmission oil cooler. Even the fenders are rolled on the 89 as on the 88

Nope. The only difference between an '88 Turbo S and an '89 is, wait for it, wait for it, exactly 1 year.

They're exactly the same. All '89's were built to Turbo S specs and Porsche just dropped the Turbo S moniker.

I beleive that an '88S came standard with the M030 underpinnings, but for the '89 it was considered an option - although I beleive most had the option.

Nope. All '89's are exactly the same as '88 Turbo S's. Absolutely identical with the exception of the '89's being called Turbo vs Turbo S for the '88's.
