All 89 951's had a lsd. I very much doubt any 951 is going to appreciate 2x, definitely not 5x, with the exception of a museum quality '88 silver rose turbo s.

Amelia island auction (!) sold 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S for $82,500
For owner of that car it was x12 in 2013.
Original 88-89 944 turbos will appreciate similar to e30 M3 or old 911s. Here in europe the trend is even more obvious.
944 in pristine condition 10 years from now will cost a fortune.

One cat that stood out for me was the 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S that sold for $75,000. I know the Turbo S is a fairly rare car, but I think this may have been a bit too much to pay for this car (I haven’t seen it in person, so there may be more to this one). Part of my thinking that this may have been a bit on the high side is that the 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo Cup was sold for $72,000. I would have thought that the Cup car would have gone for a bit more then the Turbo S, but again I didn’t see it in person. The fact that these two cars got the price they did could give some Porsche 944 owners hope that some day their cars may be highly valued cars (So, maybe think twice before putting a Corvette engine into that 944). - See more at: http://porsche.thesportscarguys.com/....Sc9dkhN4.dpuf

That was a perfect car and should be considered an outlier. E30 M3's are WAY ahead of the curve compared to 951's. You can buy a 951 here for $5000. You can't touch a crappy E30 M3 for $15k.
There's simply no comparison between the two, the 951 just isn't going to appreciate like an old 911 or E30 M3. I doubt they'll appreciate at all. In the last ten years prices of 951's here in the US have been pretty stable, $10k gets you a nice 88-89 Turbo S, $4-5000 gets you an early 951 that needs some work.

I have never seen a euro Turbo S with sunroof but 89:s without LSD so it seems to differ there aswell.
The 951:S comanding the highest values are the -88 turbo S/silverrose and Turbo cup cars which are like 40-50000 euros.
Maybe it's time to import some cars from US!

Off topic...If the E30 M3 is that high, a 951 will be or should be not that far behind but not for a long while though. The biggest factor there is the rarity factor of the M3. Honestly don't think that car is much better than a 951 (especially an S) to warrant the high price tag, but that's me. They're beautiful cars, but not $35-50k nice to me.

Talk to the owner today and got a pic of the options sticker. It has nice options: 030, 220, 139, 340, 383, 387, 490, 494
What is the stock boost for that model?

I owned an E30 M3 before my 951. I was less than impressed with the car, it was alright but I love my 951 ten times more. I think the prices of those cars are insanely high, I sold mine and made money on it. Just an opinion from someone who has owned both.
Stock boost pressure is .75 bar, around 11 psi. It will not hold that 11 psi till redline though, by the time 5800 rpm comes up you'll be seeing 7-8 psi.

E30 M3s can be had for under 10k, hell you can get em for the cost of your average fixxeruper 951 if you don't mind it needing lots done to it, or it not running like mine didn't when I got it.
On the matter of appreciation, unless its a concours 951 (and really, how many of those are left?) these things are not really gaining value at an appreciable rate. I'd say in the past 5 years they've gone up in value maybe 10% for the average example. Thats why to me, it was the perfect platform to go crazy and try random things to. My car is my test bed so that I don't have to feel bad about ruining some other iconic 80's car that is actually worth something.

Ask 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO owner what he thought in 1982 (19 years later) how much will his car appreciate over the next 30 years.
I think he would have similar answer as yours.
Little did he knew.

There are people willing and able to make reasonable car perfect. For anything close to $85.000

Interesting graph, probably see more "expensive" 951's in the coming warm months.
