Road in Buddies Acura TL
Well my friend from work just purchased an Acura TL 2004 that is nicely modded and pulled 344 whp on the dyno, my friend saw the sheet and the paper work, only thing I found out was the seller didn't give it to him but I don't know if he asked. He took me for a ride today and wow that sucker was nice and pulled strong, right after we got in my car to feel the difference and he said that he thinks I can still beat him... I dunno hard to say they both have some kick.
His Setup:
3.5l V6
Acura TL Type S Cylinder Heads
AEM Cold Air Intake
Larger Catless Exhaust
Custom Exhaust Manifolds
Skunk Suspension all the way around
Dyno Tuned for Performance
Me:
3 Bar FPR
90 mm MAF- Josh Variety
MAP Sensor
3" Exhaust Form Down Pipe Back, Catless
80lb Injectors
HV Fuel Pump
Modified Stock Wastegate
Lindsey 57 Trim Stage III Turbo, 16 Psi
Over all his car was nice and honestly I enjoyed the straight power vs boost both provide excellent fun for sure. I think it was also nice to ride in a newer car that was well sorted where I feel like mine is an endless cycle of fixing.

Tell him to start saving for a Honda Trans. If I remember correctly it's $2800 for a Genuine rebuilt Honda Trans and takes a few days for them to get one because demand is high. Nice cars, it'll take a lot to get me to buy another.

This. Those things are up there with the Dodge A604 in terms of reliability, and if push came to shove I think I'd take the A604.

^ This. No way that car gained 110+ whp from bolt ons. I misread the thread at first and thought it said 344 crank hp, which I even thought was suspect. They dyno 230-235 to the wheels stock. Base model 04 cars had a 3.2 liter so if he has a 3.5 with S heads he has an S engine. With headers, no cats, a CAI and a tune I'd bet your friends car is pushing no more than ~315 at the crank.

I told my friend to get the dyno sheet so I can see it. I questioned it as well but after riding in it and knowing how my father's corvette ls2 is, I would not be surprised if he's 300+ whp. Also this TL is FWD, so less drive train loss than RWD. When I first heard about the car I figured it was 344 crank hp, the 3.5 has just over 300hp combined with full exhaust, tune, throttle body, and intake I would assume 344 at the crank would be right. I don't know if any head work was done other than Type S heads once he gets the papers I'll find out. Even so that would still put him around 300 whp which is fast enough, especially for a family sedan lol.

I get tired of honda's and people modding them. I see the potential and the cost effectiveness but it gets old and reminds me of teenagers. I mentioned getting rid of the Porsche a few weeks ago to my wife and she asked me what car would I get and I said I dunno maybe a honda. She gave me the dumbest look and said keep your car and she doesn't care much for it since she doesn't like manuals.

Just because a dyno sheet exists doesn't mean its for that car... I call 100% BS
My mom has a TL. Comfortable ride but the trans is already going out on stock power alone.
It can get up and go though.

Ya I'm betting its crank horsepower if so that would make sense. The trans is a 6spd, from my understanding its the automatics that give, could be wrong.
