He is running a tired 5 speed and asked about alternatives, but my suggestion was to build up a 5 speed to support his car rather than going for the 6 speed. We discussed the Albins SQ box but it's stupidly expensive and needs a lottery win to substantiate such a purchase.

I think he's on the second gearbox, I wondered if the power would need to be restricted in the first 2 or 3 gears to enable even a modified 944 gearbox to survive ?

Such a great looking car Tim. Always look forward to any updates on it. You'll have to shoot some video when you get it onto the track.

Well its been a while but this winter I am looking to go through the suspension, has I'm not at all happy with the way it feels on the road. At the moment the car has all standard suspension rubbers, roll bars, but has Koni shocks.
I've purchased a full set of poly bushes and have an idea of fitting KW clubsport coilovers. Has anyone heard of any bad reviews of these? Also any suggestions on sway bars?
Cheers Tim

I've had standard KW's on my car for 6 or 7 years without issue Tim, not sure how the Clubsport version differs. 968 MO30 anti anti roll bars are a popular uprate I think.

KW's are the best riding shocks I've used so far. Cons are that there is a question over some of the build quality on external components. The plates for their top mount camber plates is pretty flimsy. Better off with Racers Edge top mounts and not just for the build quality. The RE's give you greater droop and helped in curing some push understeer I encountered some years ago. There's also a U shaped surround around the adj eccentric bolt. This needed to be welded onto shock body as it worked loose via the apparent tack welds it came with. Apart from that I thought there were great for a street/track car.

Hi Tim,
good to see you still have the car and posting again. With your experience in engine building ,can you recommend anyone in the UK to do an offset grind on 3 litre crankshaft ? Been turned down by a couple of local companies.
If your Konis are mo30, IGRacing can rebuild them , you could probably get them revalved if needed .

Thanks Tim. Unfortunately won't be making the event this year. Too late to get it all done in time. Rather do it methodically and correctly the first time. What's the status with your motor? I can't quite remember where you were up to short of the old stock gearbox succumbing. What's happening with your motor? Did I hear you dropped c/r or destroked it or something?? What boost are you running nowdays?

The engine has been fine, but I'm a little concerned about the oil pickup pipe, so while I have the front suspension off I'm going to remove the sump and fabricate a support. The turbo S gearbox seems to be holding up, but the outer driveshaft hub nut on the nearside keeps coming loose. Double nut I'm thinking. Has for boost, it runs 25psi low down dropping to 19psi at 7000 rpm
Cheers Tim
