Default 100-160km/h (60-100 mph) times

I wanted to start a thread (i know a few exist) with proper Logged data of 100-160km/h (60-100 mph) times.

this is a good way to see how quick our cars are because it uses a lot of our rpm range and is in our power-band.

The way to do it is simple, if you've got a data logger and its hooked up to your rpm, you can do this.

Instructions on how to do it:

** stock 951/952 gear boxes only. wont with with S2 R&P gears

1) find an empty road, race track, airport.. where every as long as there's no cars on the road so you're not endangering anyone else's life. (by no means am i giving you permission to go speed on a public road) and log a run in 3rd gear from ~2000 rpm to your limiter. soon as you hit the limiter back off and don't sit on it. this all needs to be recorded.

2) Go home and open the log file and find that WOT run you just did.

3) Go to this website (Gear ratio speed calculator) and type in this:
Tyre diameter: go to (Tire size calculator) and put in what rear tyres you have and put in the Diameter in (inches)
3rd gear:1.400
Final gear: 3.375
and for the rpm just type in any number until you get 100 & 160 km/h.
100 - roughly around 4000 rpm
160 - roughly 6400 rpm

4) go back to your log with the 2 rpm numbers you just got and work out the time from one to the other and you've got a very accurate time of 100-160 km/h

Here is a website of cars you cam compair to http://www.torquestats.com/index.php?pid=mph60_100

Please no stop watch times as they are inaccurate. only logged times.

I got with my current set up 4.59 seconds. I think i can get quicker if i can some how get my peak torque lower by 200 rpm.

Wish I had data logging to be able to chime in on this. Thom, 2.8 seconds is EXTREMELY quick! That's supercar territory! I didn't think a 3.0 car could be that fast. I would guess my car is somewhere in the ~5.5 second range. I know my car is faster than a stock 996TT 60-100.

It's been awhile since I did some 3rd gear pulls for time, but I remember it was coming in at around 4.5....that was before I blew the motor I'm hoping to get a tad quicker with my new build...

Everything must be working together just fine and beautifully sorted. Great job!
How much boost and are you still basically at stock weight?
My engine is running great, but I don't think I could pull that off!
Still to cold here to get enough traction, but I will have try this test.

Important to obey posted speed laws or do on a closed street like this one where I'll be testing later...

lol Tom....but to verify the run it has to be the average of an each way pass. ;-)

Thom, great job. That is super fast!!

Please take this measure with a pinch salt, as I'm not sure the road was perfectly flat and it's a log from the ECU (calculated speed).
However I can say I consistently needed ~3.1s with the POS stock intake so maybe the real figure is somewhere near 3.0s. A real 160 kph in 3rd gear is nicely beyond 6k rpm on stock tires, and the stock intake will strangle the engine past 5500k already (in function of supporting mods, etc).
I will have to get a driftbox or a G-tech some times.

More relevant for a 3.0 is IMO the 100-200kph time, but that would be for another thread I suppose. In the same log it showed ~7.7s and my benchmark is 6.1s (Corleone, who also said 2.5s for 100-150 kph).

I'm wishing I had my old laptop right now. Tons of logs of my runs on there. Ugh...

Instrumented 60-100 results of stock 951s can be found here: http://www.weissach.net/924-944-968_...mmary.html#951

The fastest 60-100 result of a stock road car that I've seen to date is a McLaren MP4-12C at 3.2 seconds: http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

That's roughly in 997.2 GT3 or C6 Z06 territory.

That's a very nice time, What's the power output of your car Thom?

IMO the 100-200 has gear changing involved so depending on how quick you can change will alter the time, that's why i think 100-160 is perfect for us who can rev to 6500 rpm.

Can't wait

Yep, still very quick to todays standards a R35 GTR is only 5.0 seconds. anything under 5.5 seconds i'd say is quick
