Default Leading cause of death of the 944

Hi guys,

It's Friday so I wanted to start a light hearted post. I was wondering what the leading cause of death of our cars is.

To me the #1 cause of 944 death is "Owner Neglect" (and that is often caused by being condition know as "dealership repair sticker shock")

But I did have a car catch on fire back in the day, so I voted for that out of the choices given.

I voted by accident. Ive seen quite a few that were thrown around corners carelessly by inexperienced drivers and were wrecked.

Ian's post makes the most sense. Wow, the previous owner hasnt maintained the car for the past 50,000 miles. Now it needs $8000 work. Might as well part it out...

I've personally sent more to the grave by crashing than any of the other choices...

It kills it because it no longer is a real Porsche . It is a mutated monster! I guess you can call the LS1 conversion the zombies of the 944 world. They are killed, they then live again but have lost their soul. Then they drive around growling and looking for other cars to eat up.

I'm just teasing... Props to all those who do these conversions... I can't imagine all the hard work that goes into this. The Corvette is like a distant cousin of the 944 with it's front engine rear transmission setup.

It goes near death, needs a heart transplant, and due to some paperwork mixup they install Lance Armstrong's size 18 heart into a size 5 body...

I personally feel lack of maintenance should be on the list, I think that's the number 1 in my book.

The "LS1" conversion option is such a kick in the *** to many. Pretty wrong to add that.

People getting in way over their head with "while I'm in the projects" and decide to part them. Or they can't sell it for what they want so they part it and make more money.

Certainly should be something like "Maintenance Neglect".

technically it's not just a ls1 since there are variants to that power plant so it's much easier to say it's a " V-GHEY" convertion, so you sir are a part of that now; a full converted V-Ghey member.

I guess one could argue that parting it out is indirectly caused by maintenance neglect; but I agree, it's probably #1.
In my case it's two crashes.

V8 swap is the future.

nothing dead about a 944 still pulling at 180 mph.
