Oh, heck ... I want a lot of things ... but I have a little restraint! Lol. I will defend the "old 911s" and say that they are also comfy to go long distances in. Neither of those 944s (sorry Clifton, lol) last weekend would I want to drive very far in. And I can prove it further - both cars were trailered.
I have a long list of cars that I would love to have. Fortunately, I only have two garage bays. I have often thought about getting a house with more garage space, though. Then I put it out of my mind, knowing I would just fill that space. It is a viscous cycle that would surely render me broke and with a wrench constantly in my hand. Lol.
So instead, I will just live vicariously through my Rennlist buddies. And at least now if I ever get a student with a 944 I wont be at a complete loss.

Clifton ... lol, no, you didn't scare me. The student I had at Laguna Seca years ago that said, "Wow! This is nothing like the video game!" as we entered the corkscrew - now that was scary! The other driver was Hal B., John's instructor. He has the "periwinkle" car, lol.
The insurance on the agreed upon value ($35000) came to $250. The cost varies a bit based on venue and experience level. The insurance policy covers you for the entire duration of the event, not just one day. My policy covered me for both Saturday and Sunday. It also covers my passenger. You can also name a second driver on the policy.

As far as I know, yes, they cover you. Mine had a $1500 deductible (I think that is standard). You can always contact them and see if they can insure cars in other countries. I am not sure if they are legally allowed.

I have no idea if that deductible I quoted is a flat rate or not. If it is, your price for a car valued at $15,000 or less would be a better deal.

I recently purchased the insurance and it was $150 for about $25k of coverage for two days at Sebring with a 10% deductible. Pretty good value, by way more cost than my Traveller's auto policy, which only recently amended their collision exclusions to include all track events. Before the expanded exclusion, only timed events and racing were excluded, which means all hpde events were covered. I do not know if there are any ins. companies left out there with these limited exclusions.

My Allstate policy used to be like yours, too. Now it excludes anything off road, competition or not. I do like the sound of your HPDE policy, though. Who writes it?

Cut it out, Michelle. I know what you are up to, and it might work! Lol. I thought about a 944 as a commuter, but the Miata keeps chuggin' along with few issues and 30 MPG. Eventually I might find a good excuse.
