I always get the Lockton insurance. Not because I plan to act like a fool, but because without it I would be so nervous that fear would kick in, which is at least as bad as being a fool. I know at least one of the GT guys had insurance - phew!
Their HPDE insurance is rated based upon the agreed value of your car. They say to set the value to at least 90% of the cost of replacement. I like this, as I can also include the pricey engine work and what not. So stuff like suspension, safety equipment - all stuff Kelly Blue Book would not take into account - gets included.
Congrats on passing an R! I don't think I am that brave. I suppose the car could do it? I dunno. I just know I am too chicken. Lol. I go fast ... enough. I was more aggressive when I had my little racecar. But I just can't quite do that in a 993. Maybe someday, if I ever get out of my chicken suit.
I had fun no matter, and will be back to get in the way of more Caymans, lol.

Having taken my 2005 GT3 to a track once, I will say that it is unforgiving and will not tolerate fools or mistakes. The left right transitions at full chat require deliberation. Mid Ohio under the Honda bridge comes to mind. I have seen my share of GT3's encounter walls, 3 in one weekend at Mosport.
The 951 is a great track tool especially when you add the V8. Even with it choked down to 322rwhp it kicks the GT3's butt, bad.

Clifton ... lol, no, you didn't scare me. The student I had at Laguna Seca years ago that said, "Wow! This is nothing like the video game!" as we entered the corkscrew - now that was scary! The other driver was Hal B., John's instructor. He has the "periwinkle" car, lol.
The insurance on the agreed upon value ($35000) came to $250. The cost varies a bit based on venue and experience level. The insurance policy covers you for the entire duration of the event, not just one day. My policy covered me for both Saturday and Sunday. It also covers my passenger. You can also name a second driver on the policy.

Sure... call any time. Bonni , go to the NOLA sight and sign up , they will send you updates on upcoming events. Most of which will be NASA events, they just had the first PCA 2 weeks ago. They do 1 and 2 day sign ups and also open track days on Fridays before big events .
