I would say the 6266 is too large unless you're planning on very high boost.

I run a GT3582R with 0,82 a/r T3 turbine housing.

PS I would personally stay 3.X and 16v Turbo...

But if you were doing a V8 swap, ever think of doing a 3UZ or even 1UZ VVti Toyota V8? I did one in a Supra (with an HKS turbo), made 500WHP at 14psi I think (in the old non VVTi 4.0 1UZ version).

Very strong potential in that engine. But it's probably too big and V8 + turbo is just too much weight.

The UZ's fit the 944 bay. Clutch setup has already been figured.

The UZ would be fine in a Toyota, but it's way less of an engine than the LS-motors. You can put a turbo on an LS, too.

Interesting putting a 1UZ into a Supra. I would think the 2JZ would have more potential, be easier to upgrade, and be a better all around engine. I would assume the Supra swap is also pretty easy because the SC400 is basically the same thing.

The V8 is all alloy, a very light motor actually. And its a narrow angle too

I see lots of cutting, including a frame rail

It makes 250rwhp at 8000rpm's, so we are still left wondering "why?".

The newer VVT engines have the PS pump tucked tighter. When someone builds a mid-engine 944, i'll be impressed. Just the torque tube delete will be worth it.

The 944 isn't designed to be setup like that. You would have almost no weight over the front tires. It would be absolutely miserable to try and do anything that involves turning.

^^ Not true. It would just require some spring rate and suspension changes. By concentrating the weight between the wheel base you would be lowering polar moment of inertia and with the right setup would probably end up with a more responsive handling car.

Not saying a mid engine fit would be easy though, you do have a problem with a lack of driver space, but you could move the rear suspension back or extend the footwells.

They did a mid engine V8 swap for the Alfa Sprint in Australia in the 80s. The sprint body has more room behind the driver for it, but a crazy cool idea anyway.

Are you really concentrating the weight between the wheel base, or just loading it all on the rear? If you look at the Alfa you posted, they actually put the weight between the wheel base.

Either way, the rear suspension would be a nightmare. I'd rather shift the engine back in the engine compartment, moving the firewall if needed, to achieve the same effect.
