Bit of an update: Been doing a ton of driving. Motor is holding up in incredible way. I have had the boost quite high as of late as I am getting very comfortable with power. Went to an Autocross with JoshB and Brad this last weekend. My wife did the Autocross event (her first) and had a great time in her NA:


Amazingly, at the 944 Fest a guy offered me 15K for the NA! Very tempting but my wife loves it and finding another car like it would be difficult (probably should have sold it). My wife's NA is the cleanest 944 I have ever seen.

Did have an issue after the DE with a occasional misfire and found this:


Must have been a crack and with the HVC II it does not take very long to see serious degradation. Took a while to find it. I have now applied a healthy amount of dielectric compound to every connection.

Installed the cip1.com 28 mm torsion bars today (see here). The VW bars worked out great and were cheap ($134) Reallly want to thank ilikemy944 (Brad) for a LOT of good advice and the install strategy. Really not a fun job. Had to index them twice to get it right. Lowered the car about 0.75". I used the procedure from Elephant Racing that lowers one side at a time (see here). Used the procedure at 944spec.org (see here) to get an estimate of how much to move the spring plates to account for the 28 mm bars and the ride height change. Pretty cool Excel spreadsheet on the page (see here). I will install the new coils-over kit from Paragon for the front next weekend.

Took a drive tonight and I am in awe of how different the car feels. Amazing! This is one of the best things you can do to your car. The car feels so much more planted, not just handling wise but also when you really get into the power. All this and I still need an alignment. Now I need bigger brakes. lol

Not bad at all. I think the 28 mm torsion bars with 275 lb springs up front is a good compromise for a street car. I think that for a high HP car, this stiffness should probably be a minimum.

Low cost street/track suspension project. 28 mm torsion bars (cip1) for $134, Coil over kit (275 lb springs) from Paragon for $260, and refurbished late strut bearings from Josh B. Lowered the car about 0.75". Amazing results for the money. Highly recommended.

Admittedly I know almost nothing about suspension mods. Just knowledge gained from here and boy is it opinionated. On my car with the M030 package, I pretty much have the front part covered from the looks of it. Do you think just upgrading my rear torsion bars would help along with the new LR M035 front and rear sways? After reading the Elephant Racing thread, I think I will also replace all my bushings with the upgraded rubber units they sell.
