I figured the same thing. Start with the $600 motor, and once it is up and running, I will likely pick up another to put on the stand and start building a little more serious.

Me!
I'm actually on my second--my first was destroyed in a rear-ender. My first 1987 951:
And now my second, a 1990 S2:
Specs are:
-2001 LS1, mild cam
-A0R transaxle
-Some RH kit, some homegrown
-Hydroboost brake booster
-RH headers -> 2.5" duals -> 3.5" single
-Control arms moved back up
...a million other little things...

From what I can tell, there were a couple different paint codes used on the jager cars. Some say signal orange, some continental, no one had a real definitive answer. I was finding jager cars that were different tints. One of them was a very flat looking orange which I didn't like, so I started looking around. Found an orange, YS019 is the dupont paint code which was a much more vibrant orange. I think it is called Kubota orange. My painter found the same tint in a different brand which was 1/4th of the cost of the dupont, so we went with that. I've got the cans sitting at the shop, I can look at what brand we used. Glad we did, as it took 2.5 gallons of paint to do the entire chassis.
I've got most of the build documented on my blog, i think you just search LSX and a bunch of posts pop up.

Agreed!
X-post this in the 924/944/968 section, probably get even more people.. because obviously some probably have conversions and don't come to the turbo sections for obvious reasons..
BTW nice thread, it'll give me something to brows through.
Also - should put the engine type next to their name and a short list of mods for example
paulyy - ls1, ls2 head, Comp Cam 293LR, long tube headers, Maf-less tune, 400 rwhp
like the 3L reg.
