Ground 3.0 crank.
I'm on the lookout for a 3.0 crank and 3 I've found so far have either been ground or need grinding, is this typical or should I wait for a good standard size crank ?.

Why not grind one and build one of those experimental stroker engines with chevy pistons . You should know who to ask about it on this forum. If my new block dies on me i will do that.

I want to play safe and do a conservative build, not saying offset grinding wont work but welding onto a forging isn't for me.

Yes the journals are ground down to much smaller pins. As far as the pistons and rods. We could talk about that privately. Being a bigger engine I don't feel comfortable throwing out the part numbers because there is a bit more to it.

I did some research on how I should prep a 3.0 crank when I have one and it seems cross drilling and knife edging isn't all it's made out to be. Interestingly main and big end overlap seems to point to the 2.5 crank being stronger than the 3.0 though I guess you'd need huge output to break either.
