Default Total Sales $$ from parting 86 951?

Some things have been changing around here prompting me to consider parting out my daily driver 86 951. I'm curious as to what others have managed to gross on sales when doing this. i.e. how much did you bring in by parting out the entire car. With a few small exceptions everything on the car is good albeit it is an 86 with 204k miles on it. Engine upper end was completely rebuild at around 175k miles and entire front suspension is brand new with custom valved konis and control arms with Rennbay 19 mm GC ball joints, delrin front bushings and 968 caster blocks. Tranny has LSD.

If you're not comfortable shar ing with the entire list feel free to PM me.

Thx.

Michael

I'd just hazard a guess that you could make $8-10k.

....make $8-10k.
I don't mean to be a nattering nabob of negativity but.... NO WAY. Man, I wish... - oh how I wish my garage full of 944 stuff was worth something but I fear a part out will go no where near 8k. I bet theres 30 guys just like me here on RL that have boxes full of parts that they just can't quite let go for nothing. I think you're looking at maybe 2.5k. Go back and look at the for sale threads, most of them bomb out after about a week. I say, swap some stock struts in, put a "project" thread in Craigslist, let it go and move on. Either way, good luck...Bruce

The labour and time involved to move an entire car of parts... argh, who could be bothered with so many transactions!

Everyone has a horde of small bits (well, until they need something badly and dig through and can't find it). Look at pelican and someone asking for a stock part usually has 2 or 3 guys jumping on the sale.

iirc lart once said in a thread he made like $6k off of the typical turboS car. I'd imagine a regular turbo to be quite a bit less.

A good car = a ton of good parts + a ton of good labour. If you part it out, you only get value of the parts. And you only get that eventually.

Why part out a running car?

Lot of work and time involved in parting. And if you end up getting anjother 951, everything you need you would have probably sold!

I'd be happy to give away my storage unit full of spares at this point. To get $8-10k out of parts, you'd have to start with a 968 TS. lol

I completely agree you can't make money parting out cars, just donate it for a good cause

Feel free to fly out to KC and rent a decent sized U-haul. I am happy to donate. I have one decent ready to run 944 engine, several heads, a 944NA tranny, fenders, hoods, nose panels, and all manner of small parts from 944's and 951's that have been disassembled at my house over the years. Heck, I'll even buy you the beer and BBQ!

Well, I could use a 951 hood, mine is dinged. Hint: Don't park under oak trees in the fall, I swear I got dinged by acorns....Bruce
